A few years ago, I had some free time when I in NYC and I went to the Public Library. Now I have a library card, and usually stop in to see what exhibitions they have (right now, a great one on the 60's) and...More

This is a huge library with massive collection of books. Children's section has extensive collection of books and videos, not to forget all extra large plush toys that adorn the shelves. There is even a display of the original plush bear that inspired author Milne...More

It is worth your time to see one of the greatest spaces celebrating the public's acquisition of knowledge. The reading room is a marvel, the artwork is stunning and the special exhibits are thoughtfully presented. All of this for FREE.

The NY Public Library is an architectural marvel. Stunning frescoes and ceiling treatments. The only problem: very few books. Don't come here expecting to curl up with a book in a dusty warm corner. Lovingly restored.

This old building is more like a museum than a library, but it is another beautiful example of early 20th century public buildings. There are great displays inside and it's free to visit.
