The museum has a comprehensive history of the city connecting it with world events and the development of the overall country. The tour guides are great, the exhibits are also fantastic.

Having travelled all over Europe visiting museums along the way, I have to say this is right up there with the best I have ever been to! All the exhibits are done so well. Staff are friendly. Particularly liked Muslims in New York & the...More

The Building is wonderful along with the exhibition. The Gay Gotham exhibition was wonderful. A collection of paintings, photographs and some letters about the creative network of the gay life in NYC and some detail of their personal lives from the 60's through the 90's....More

Of all the museums in New York, this one caught our eye as it was more focussed on the city and the culture of New York, rather than art and artists. We were not disappointed. A really informative introductory short film explored the evolution of...More

Terrific renovation of this museum with wonderful exhibits particularly useful for anyone interested in the City whether a resident or tourist. Very intelligent presentations. Not necessarily for children or those not reading English but not to be missed by others.
