I enjoyed this museum. It is 4 stores accessible to the public. It has a wheelchair and stroller accessible entrance on the side street off 5th avenue. There is an approximately 10 minute movie on the lower level that runs every 10 mins. The movie gives a history of New York from when it was bought and named New Amsterdam... More

The museum has a comprehensive history of the city connecting it with world events and the development of the overall country. The tour guides are great, the exhibits are also fantastic.

Having travelled all over Europe visiting museums along the way, I have to say this is right up there with the best I have ever been to! All the exhibits are done so well. Staff are friendly. Particularly liked Muslims in New York & the work on slavery. The. Eat exhibit was the staircase.

Very pleasant and interesting place and suitable above many others for its material which is exclusively about NYC. Good history, good media content, and thought provoking. Shows the historic progression of NYC. While i agree with others that its not a massive facility and thus doesn't take the days and hours of other museums, I did find it absorbing and... More

The Building is wonderful along with the exhibition. The Gay Gotham exhibition was wonderful. A collection of paintings, photographs and some letters about the creative network of the gay life in NYC and some detail of their personal lives from the 60's through the 90's. Some of the photographs are just wonderful, beautiful, emotional. The ongoing collections of New York... More

We've often been to New York (my wife grew up there) but despite many visits we waited a long time to go to this fine museum. It's a little out of the way, at 103rd Street, and not down with the cluster of other museums in midtown. But it's really only a couple of subway stops away from the Metropolitan... More

I lived in NYC 6 years and have visited perhaps 30 times. It is my favorite city in the world. Crossing a street I thought to myself, gee, is there anything I haven't seen in NY? Seeing a Hop On Hop Off tour bus I thought, huh, I could probably give that tour. I decided to pick up a brochure... More

Of all the museums in New York, this one caught our eye as it was more focussed on the city and the culture of New York, rather than art and artists. We were not disappointed. A really informative introductory short film explored the evolution of New York to it's current day. A good range of diverse exhibitions on display and... More

Terrific renovation of this museum with wonderful exhibits particularly useful for anyone interested in the City whether a resident or tourist. Very intelligent presentations. Not necessarily for children or those not reading English but not to be missed by others.
