I visited this marketplace in a hot morning of June, at 10,30 a.m. only few shops were open. It's a nice little African marketplace up in Harlem. The products they sell look hand crafted and seems to be of West African origin. I like Africa...More

We were disappointed by this market, it is quite small and has a very limited range of things for sale. There were some authentic-looking west African masks for sale, some fake 'designer' handbags and the rest was basically African jewellery and dresses. There was no...More

I'm so glad I went. I love Malcolm X and what he represented, so I am ecstatic to see they preserved this place beautifully. To look at the spot where this beautiful buffalo soldier fell, it's heartbreaking. But we should remember. We can never forget,...More

My wife and I went shopping at the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market in NYC. There a several rows of African art, clothes and miscellaneous items. The prices are very affordable and you can bargain with the various merchants.

I have visited this market a number of times and it is always an interesting experience. The items are authentic African pieces and while you have to often negotiate your price, you will walk away with some pretty nice pieces. During a recent visit to...More

Was taking the tour through Harlem and ran into this Flea Market type place. Some of the vendors had really nicely made treasures. Excellent location for unique jewelry and fashionable pieces. And if your looking for knock off designer purses here's a find.

All the sellers at the market are from Africa and sell a bit of everything. Some of it is junk, but if you shop around you'll find cute and cheap earrings, necklaces and other items that you can take home as a souvenir and also...More

Don't think the African American products were authentic. Each stand seemed to have the same type of products. Lots and lots of counterfeit purses which they were pushing. Nothing there for us. I was upset that our tour guide took us there instead of some...More

As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has
played a vital role in the history of New York City.
Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new
businesses and developments go up next to local
institutions. The heart of the neighbourhood is
bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and
historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with
big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and
