The Library

The Library space is very interesting but you must peruse the variety of books titles that are present. A beautiful depository of a wealth of printed books.

This is a gorgeous museum on 36th and Madison, the former mansion of J.P. Morgan. Must see features are Mr. Morgan's sumptuous study and library, which displays the rare specimens he collected, books as well as music scores. The museum generally has an excellent literary-type exhibit based on its holdings, Alice in Wonderland, for example. The current exhibit is devoted to... More

Still a "well kept secret" this Is the kind of places that make NYC a unique place for visitors and AN inexhaustible attraction menu. The former JP Motgan's house, shows his tasteful prívate office and an out of this world prívate library showing pieces of sacred art and incredible book collection not to be missed.

This is not a big place. The former residence of a rich man and collector, Morgan Museum hosts different exhibits on a regular basis. It's regular collection is not big and consists of several rooms open for viewing and personal collection of Mr. Morgan. The lovely garden adjacent to the house, provides a nice place for a respite. The most... More

The historical part was cool, but the art collection wasn't my taste/interest. The architecture of the library itself was unique - the Guttenberg Bible and First Folio of Shakespeare were impressive.

What a gem of a museum! Great location for a little culture, a little shopping and a little eating! Do not miss the personal library. Even reluctant readers can find something interesting here.

The temporary exhibits here show great scholarship, understanding, and depth of collections. They combine the best of the Morgan's collections and its ability to borrow from the best museums in the world. In November 2016 we saw the Martin Luther exhibit that featured contemporary portraits of Luther, many original documents written by him, and pamphlets printed during his break from... More

If you are worn out from the hustle and bustle of the big city but want to keep making good use of your time, this is a wonderful small museum with beautiful art and antiques to quietly enjoy. The manuscripts are amazing. The current exhibit of work by Hans Memling, (early Flemish painter) and related works has amazing jewel-like portraits.... More

Visited here on Friday night. A lot of NY museums have free admission at certain times of the week & the Morgan is free 7pm - 9pm on Fridays. There was an exhibition of the Bronte's & others, as well as the library itself. I am not a fan of museums, but my husband & daughter are, so we went.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
