The Metropolitan Museum Of Art is truly an Immense collective of history from all continents. It is indeed one of the well preserved and renowned museums in the world. Upon arrival, you walk up the grand steps, take some time for a photo op, walk through security scanners and you’re in to the grand hall. Local residents may enter for free but must queue in a rather long line to take advantage of this. There are several visual and audiovisual guides so be sure to take advantage of those materials at the center console upon entry. It is rather difficult to see the museum in its entirety in one day, especially if you are taking it all in and moving at a casual pace. The museum holds incredibly well curated artifacts and truly is a must-see when in New York.

We never miss this place when we’re in New York. The collections are breathtaking you’re never disappointed. This time we were lucky enough to see the Mayan art exhibition, another beautifully curated and designed exhibition at the standard you know you’ll get here. It’s one not to miss

Visited early March 2023 and many galleries were under renovation. At least four of their iconic pieces were off display (Rembrandt, Pollock, Bosch and Raphael) still an amazing museum and spent many hours there but a let down to international visitors who may only get one chance to visit. New entry price is too high considering how much was closed/off display and exchange rates.

The quality of this museum and the contents within was overwhelming. Although you should plan on a span of time to be able to view these treasures, it is a necessity to be placed on your to do list when in NYC.

With The Louvre Paris, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam And The British Museum Londen, this is The best museum in The World! A absolute must see in the world. You can stay here for days. The art is really high class. Some of the most beautiful Vincent van Gogh paintings in the world are here. Also the Egyptian collection is great. Everything in this museum is great.

What a shame that this icon of culture closes at 5pm most weekdays, isn’t open on Wednesdays at all. What’s a business traveler who loves art to do in an evening? Study their business hotel “art”? Please consider one more weeknight of late opening.

Hello, is the Anna Wintour Costume Institute currently open to the public? We're members and are wondering if there's any upcoming tours of the exhibit? Thank you!

Sorry for late entry, agreed with both answers.
Is it still the case that tickets to the Metropolitan Museum are good for 3 consecutive days, including at the Cloisters? This 2018 article [ metro.us/the-met-is-no-longer-pay-what-you-wish-for-some-visitors/ ] suggests that's the case, as do some of the respondents on TripAdvisor. However, I don't see it mentioned on the Met website. Thank you!

The website says small backpacks are allowed. Can you more clearly define small. I have a regular size North Face backpack.

I am planning to take my wife ( who has never been to New York) to the Met for a date in the night on a weekendand stay there till around 6-7pm. Apart from the closures mentioned in the website, does the Met have restrictions/ closures of galleries in the evenings of weekends?

Gallery closures are posted daily, so check the morning of your visit to see which ones are closed. But prior to your visit, you should plan what you want to see in the Met. The museum is so large that you can't possibly see it all, so based on your wife's interests, determine what galleries or works are "must see" and prioritize them so that you can see all that you desire and not walk out of the Met wishing you had gotten to this gallery or that you didn't see that work. On our recent visit, we were there for about 5 hours and still didn't see everything on our list! Enjoy!!

Os ingressos ainda valem por três dias consecutivos?
Are tickets still valid for three consecutive days?
Does The Met close in preparation for The Met Gala?
For example, if The Met Gala is held on the 16th, does the museum itself close on say the 14th and 15th?

Oops. Sorry. Was in NY only a few days. So don’t know. Please contact them Sure they’ll tell you.
Hi, I was wondering how many hours we can stay? For example, if our reservation is at 10 am, could we stay inside until 5 pm?
