There are not many museums that can capture your imagination for so long; the Met is one of them. The sheer size and variety of the exhibits makes it the one museum not to miss when in NYC; ahead of the Natural History Museum, the New museum, The Whitney - old and New or even the Guggenheim.

The best way to visit the Met is to view a little at a time, assuming you have the time. Pick out a few areas that interest you and focus on that. You won't be disappointed!

Although a native New Yorker, I hadn't been here in a few years. I love this museum and seems they improved a few things. It is the most amazing cultural place in NYC where you can pay as much as you will like. You can spend days there and choose any culture or history that you are interested. The place is just a perfect medicine for your mind. Bring the kids, friends or anyone that you can share these beautiful paintings or sculptures. Just... More

If you are in NYC & interested in art, this is a must see with top notch representation in practically every era and civilization. Presentation, lighting, ventilation, temperature control is state of the art. It is comprehensive, but not confusing like the Louvre. Even though its Western European, Ancient & Egyptian Departments are outstanding, most people don't realize its Arts... More
