It's definitely a unique building that seems to have been well-maintained over the years. For that alone, it is worth a visit. For the best photos, go to General Worth Square or Madison Square Park across the street.

Its as beautiful as its mentioned in books blogs Wondering how they have build it at that age. its situated on the junction of broadway avenue and 5th avenue. There is a history of this building and you must google for this. Take some pictures in black and white. It ll be a lifelong memory.

The name is funny, but it lives up to its name "Flat", among other big, huge & muscular building, this building is very flat & slim. Right opposite of Madison Square Park, NY.

The Flatiron is unique in NY. Until 1909 it was the tallest building in the world! It is a must see and best viewed from across the road on the traffic island. Do spend some time studying the detail and don't miss the statues peering down from on high. There are some fun hammocks opposite as well to try out.

Although it is just a building, I have to say this is definitely a special location for one to take a 'postcard' shot for memorial visit to NYC. If you passed by, morning and evening, the 'postcard' picture can really look different. Night time your camera must be of high quality to capture really nice shot of you.

It is just a building, but quite a famous one and for us, touring from overseas, was great to say we saw it. It really is that narrow at the end...

This building has to be one of my favorite s in the city. I only wish it were accessible to the public. Its strange shape is a thing of beauty. Stand at the point and be amazed, stand at the rear and you would not recognise it as the flat iron. I gave it a hug, as I do with... More

We were visiting NYC and spent a day walking around the city to take in some of the iconic architecture. Flatiron was one of our favorites! Walking distance from the High Line as well. Definitely recommend.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
