About
Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

Parker says "Grand old Grand Central"
Still Grand. Amazing architecture, expansive, imposing, impressive and much cleaner than when I commuted here in the 1970's. The food court has come back to life after a few tough years, and the selections are vast and diverse, just like NYC itself. Go down below and check out the new LIRR station that they almost secretly built!!! Very impressive and designed to be compatible with the old terminal. GCT is the heart of New York City, so even if you don't use the trains, it is well worth a visit.

    Wowzers!
Been to NYC many times but never made it to this beautiful building! Plenty of food & beverage options, restrooms & great spots for pictures. Just a cool spot even if you aren’t going anywhere!

One of my favourite NYC buildings
Grand Central Terminal is beautiful. I fantastic building to be in. Always enjoy spending time here and admiring the architecture, seeing the hustle and bustle. It has many eateries, the whispering wall is fun, and it's a great place to catch trains from!

    Nothing too exciting here
We stopped in on Grand Central as we were passing. It's an iconic building that was nice to see but it's very much a working terminal and apart from the whispering wall (which was pretty cool!!) there wasn't a huge amount to see here. I wouldn't recommend making a special visit to this place but worth looking in on if passing by.

    Beautiful building
Definitely worth a stop if you are in New York City. We probably spent half an hour wandering around. Beautiful old architecture, the clock is worth seeing. We wandered through the different shops. Very busy.

    Iconic landmark
Love this train station. So pretty, and full of people watching. We didn't take the train anywhere this time but enjoyed the many shops and food places inside. The energy here is fantastic too. it's the real NY.

    Beautiful station! Iconic!
I loved it! The station is so iconic and beautiful. The architecture is incredible! There is also so many shops, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and stands here as well as a market! There was also a trumpet player who sounded amazing and made the vibe so much better. I highly recommend coming here!

    Grand Train Terminal 🚉
This was my first ride on the Long Island Railroad to Grand Central Terminal. The station has a very long escalator that brings passengers to the street level. It's beautifully decorated with high end tile and marble. The restrooms had the same beauty as the common areas. Very clean with higher end finishes and fixtures. Make sure you stroll through the high end market. It's absolutely stunning.

    Grand Central Architecture!
We didn't use the trains so can't comment on those but you MUST visit just for the architecture and history of this magnificent building. The tall ceilings and the hustle and bustle is just fantastic to watch and observe. Felt it could have more seating in the main public area just for that very reason.

Great place, love the architecture. The Apple Store in Grand Central is amazing, had my first Apple Vision Pro demo experience which was brilliant. This Vision Pro is not available in UK. Also visited the shuttle platform between Grand Central & Times Sq which was filmed in my favourite movie French Connection. Shame the custard cart is no more, but i is the same steps and platform Charnier and Gene Hackman used.

It really is a great piece of architecture. I just wanted to see inside and was not disappointed but happily surprised that there was a lovely food market in there too and my partner was veryhappy to see the apple store upstairs where he could do the apple vision Pro trial so a win for both of us 😂

Grand Central Train Station is one of the most visited destinations in NYC.

It offers sights, history, architecture, dining and shopping.

The most iconic and wellknown sights are: the turquoise and gold celestial ceilung mural and the info booth topped with a four-sided brass clock.

Pay also attention to details: one souvenir to take home in my heart ❤ is the shiny golden brass letter box.

We visited on a w.e. and unfortunatly the Grand Central Oyster Bar was closed ...

I first visited GCT decades ago and was overwhelmed. Each time I return here it's a highlight. Great aura!

Another great activity to do when it is pouring rain outside, well, also a great activity is it is nice outside for this building oozes with history, is full of little secrets to find, is beautiful and to top it all off, it is free to enter!!!!
Built back in the 1870s by Cornelius Vanderbilt when train travel was the rage, but by the 1950s cars and planes had surpassed trains as the main means of getting from point A to point B, and the station fell into disrepair, it lost its National Landmark status and was scheduled to be torn down, replaced by a new skyscraper. But Jackie Onassis and legendary architect Philip Johnson banded together to form the Committee to Save Grand Central Station and succeeded. The building was cleaned up, layers and layers of soot and grime were removed from the walls and ceiling. The ceiling constellations once again could be seen from below, broken windows replaced, trash removed, and the station was expanded. Today it is such a vibrant area. People scurrying to catch their train, shops and eateries abound and everywhere there is motion and activity. We loved walking about taking it all in.
and.......
if you know about them, you can go find little secret areas like the Whispering Wall, and the black tile, and the glass walkways, and constellations painted backwards...so many fun things to discover. When in NYC, do stop in to visit this grand building.

You probably already know how grand and beautiful this place is, but, did you know there is a super cool oyster bar in there? They sell oysters from all around North America, lots of different kinds. We sat at the bar, it was just so cool!

After visiting Summit next door, we stopped at this iconic terminal. I was in awe of the architecture and design, but the cleanliness of such a busy place caught my immediate attention. Staff were kind enough to answer questions. There were plenty of food options downstairs. Next time, we hope to hop a train just for the experience.

Jonathan was an informative and personal guide. He repeated our names often, showing he wanted us to know he wasn’t mailing it in. We saw all the things you might miss without a guide, heard the history and development of the building and overall had a delightful tour.

Before my visit, I had heard on TV, that some very significant changes were being made to Grand Central. I’m not sure if I even noticed much difference except the iconic lobby area with the clock in the middle. I seem to recall this area being very open and spacious but now I thought it felt cramped. I don’t remember all the shops and cafes being in the iconic lobby area and the assumed domed ceiling was much lower? I’m having a hard time giving the upgrades 5 stars.

I don't really know what I expected, but it was underwhelming. We stopped and had about 20 minutes to explore. I think 10 would have been sufficient. It's more like a place to go to just to say you've been there. I'm a tourist so I am sure it is very different for native New Yorkers. The ceiling was pretty, but that was about it.
