Enjoyed a brief trip down the pier and around this lovely little lighthouse! The weather indicator tower at the foot of the pier was fascinating - it was fun to see the meanings of the various weather flags flown.
There’s a small public park with public restrooms nearby.
Parking was VERY limited during our visit. My wife stayed with our double-parked car while I explored the area fairly quickly. 🤷🏻♂️

This is not the typical tall, stately lighthouse. Rather, the light sits atop a single story structure poised at the end of a pier in historic downtown Manteo. It has a very classic coastal appearance. It is (or was not) attended during our visit and the stairs were closed so we could not climb it but there are informative presentations within the building. It is worth the visit if you already in Manteo or are on a mission to view all of the OBX lighthouses.

Im kinda a lighthouse nerd so of corse I had to see this one. Its very small and not a lot to see inside but its a very pretty lighthouse. They have a little info inside about it. If you need a stamp for you lighthouse passport book, you will get that in the boathouse museum in front.

Visited this on my trip to the Outer Banks. This lighthouse is similar to the one in Edenton and Plymouth.
Relatively easy to get to and some parking is available, however the area attracts a lot of attention so it could be difficult.
Nice short walk to the lighthouse and was walk around and look in the window, since it was closed.

I enjoy visiting lighthouses and we didn't miss this one on Roanoke Island. It is a replica, and we couldn't go inside, but it still holds the charm of a bygone era. It is not your typical tall tower light, but more like a house with a light in a cupola. It's purpose was not only to guide sailors but also fisherman seeking the Croatan Sound southern entrance at Wanchese.

Marshes Lighthouse is a reproduction of a lighthouse style that once graced the nearby waterways for bay/sound navigation. It’s new location along the waterfront, park, and nearby marina and local shops makes it a great destination to spend a few hours (in Manteo) near OBX. Not much inside the open house, nor a curator so a little wanting on details and lore of the lighthouse, keepers etc.

On our first visit to the Outer Banks, my wife and I made a point to visit the lighthouses, including this one. The visitor area inside had some information, but the stairs were roped off so we couldn't walk up. The nearby Queen Elizabeth 2 ship was visible from the lighthouse, but not open for the season yet.

We had visited four other nearby lighthouses in the Outer Banks area. This was the smallest by far. Not your typical tall lighthouse, the lens sits atop a cottage on a short pier. There is parking available for your short stay. Didn’t take much time to see this nice place.

This lighthouse was a surprise in a good way! It is a replica of the original lighthouse and located on the end of a long dock. It almost looks like a small cottage with benches around the outside to sit and gaze at the water. It is very photogenic and often there are sailboats moored a short way off. This lends even more atmosphere to the site. Unfortunately you cannot climb up the stairs for safety reasons. This is a short easy visit with a big aesthetic bang. Lovely!!!

A great free opportunity when in downtown Manteo - just park and walk the lighthouse and the area around it. It's far from your "typical" lighthouse but great for some pictures and even more stunning at sunset. Don't forget to check out the pirate ship while there.

Take US-158 south to US-64, go right over to Roanoke Island. Take the US-64 right towards Manteo. At Fernando Street, take a right. Got to the end and park. It’s right there.
