Went totally off-season, so characters were limited, It was still fun because there was a lot of hands-on interaction! My 12 year old granddaughter and I dressed in the clothes of the period. The blacksmith gave a demonstration of his nail making and presented my granddaughter a nail he made to take home as a souvenir. There are displays outside... More

This was similar to jamestown but a bit more local in flavor and scale. Personable period actors who were very engaging and educational. Nice small walk and great location. Very nice indorr explaination of history.

Even though we went when it was just starting to be the off season, there was still plenty to see and a variety of people to talk to. The staff dress in period clothing and talk (as best they can) like you would expect from this era. The boat was amazing and it was even more amazing to find out... More

We visited in fall, so attendance was light and we had interpreters one-on-one at times. The exhibits are simple, but well done with lots of interactive opportunities for children. The interpreters with whom we spoke were knowledgeable and friendly. There is also a movie and museum; again, both are well done. Adults can do whole thing in 2+ hours (including... More

We came by on a family reunion with 2 seniors, 4 adults and 1 child. Everyone had fun exploring the Indian houses and settler village. I was really impressed with the ship. It's a real boat! The park guides were dressed up and added an extra level of interest with facts about the exhibits. Many areas were highly interactive. My... More

We enjoyed visiting this attraction. (Except having to dodge 50 high schoolers on a field trip that day). The Elizabeth II ship tour was very interesting and informative. The native villages were quaint and fun.

This is a superbly designed and maintained history park, with lots of hands-on activities for kids. It has a full-scale replica of The Elizabeth sailing ship, Indian villages, and settler homes, with knowledgable docents, and other exhibits and films. Truly a must-visit for anyone in the Outer Banks interested in the fascinating story of the Lost Colony on Roanoke Island.

Watched the Blacksmith make a nail mosquitos were having lunch on me. it was on the muggy side and looked like it might rain. We kinda had to move along. Stopped in the Gift Shop like most prices were on the high side.
