This is a cool place. Start at the visitor's center, see a movie then go out to the QE2 ship - fun little adventure. Then tour the "English settlement". Loved the blacksmith. He was rollicking fun - actually making and giving out hand made nails. Too cool. Then, there is the adventure museum to tour. And once you pay one... More

Very good depiction of life of the Indians in this area. Interactive exhibit. There is a working blacksmith shop. The person working it was in character, gave us a great history of the English settlement ,and even made us a nail. You can walk on the ship. The crew were very nice and informative.

Movie of the Indians that lived there and how they helped new arrivals. Some good some awful. How they suffered at the hands of White men. Very well done. Great escape for windy or cold days or from the heat. Elizabeth's Ship was surprising, amazing how that many people could live together on such a small space. All the staff... More

Went with our 4 year old, he loved pretending to be a pirate about the Elizabeth. The employees/characters were awesome and so patient with him. They explained how the ship worked, taught him to tie sailor knots, and let him hoist the anchor! He LOVED it! There was also a great historic colony area with a blacksmith and a carpenter... More

The Park covers a large area with nice boardwalks for viewing the sound and river. But the most sobering exhibit is a true-sized replica of the Queen Elizabeth ship that brought the first settlers to Roanoke. It was 69 feet long and accommodated 50 people. All passengers were kept below deck through the voyage while crew managed the ship. You... More

This is a small park with replicas of the village where the colonists might have lived and a ship that they sailed on. There were two docents on hand to explain blacksmithing, wood-working, village life and customs. Two docents on the ship, both females, were great. The third docent, male, was very rude and the reason I can't give 5... More

Nice place and exhibits. There were only 4 folks in character on a Thu in early April. It may be more immersive in the summer. Enjoyed the museum very much with something for everyone in our group of 9 yr old to 62 yr old.
