This beautiful and sacred rock spire in Canyon de Chelly National Monument is its most popular attraction. If you don't have much time, make this your priority! The parking area for this site is at the end of South Rim Drive about 15 miles east of the visitor center (free admission). From there, it is a .2-mile walk on an... More

I traveled during winter so the colours of the park is much different. It's also quieter during winter. The views are continuously beautiful!

The view of the Spider Rock is amazing, very beautiful and incredible construction. It is the last of the South Rim view points and takes a little bit to get there but totally worth it. Unfortunately to be able to explore more, you need a tour guide - which is not my preferred way of exploring places. Just be aware... More

Although it was 16-degrees-F when we got out of our car from the nearby parking lot, the canyon views are spectacular as you walk towards a left turn and there it is. Magnificent survivor of the elements, a testimony of strength in an erosive world, a symbol of perseverance for the ages. Interesting too that it is actually two spires,... More

One of our stops on the Canyon de Chelly South Rim drive. Takes a while to get to but absolutely worth it. Get the interpretive guide from the visitor center for an explanation of the rock itself...it looks nothing like a spider!

We first experienced, Spider Rock, on our Canyon de Chelly jeep tour with Leona Taking the jeep tour was a great way to get up close and personal. We ate lunch in the canyon at the base of Spider Rock. Then in the afternoon saw a great sunset at the overlook just above Spider Rock, just a great experience!

To see the cliff dwellings and pictographs, it's necessary to hire a guide. There are various jeep tours, but we took Bobby Vanwinkle's into the canyon and could not have been happier. Bobby's niece Colleen Hunter (2 master's degrees) was an awesome guide. She told us stories of her ancestors and relatives, who are for the most part traditional Navajo.... More

We visited at sunset and the top of the peaks were sun lit and the valley in full fall colors. Unbelievable view and look from the lookout. A short walk from the parking lot on a nice sidewalk.

We did a horse tour into the Canyon. But saw Spider Rock after the tour from the road in our car. It was spectacular. I suppose it would have been amazing from the bottom up, but we were not up to an 8 hour horse back tour. However the 3 hour tour was really great! Justin's horse tours.

A spectacular and huge rock formation at the end of the canyon - well worth going the distance for. Canyon De Chelley ("shay") is well off the beaten track for most but I urge everyone to make the effort to see it - it's amazingly photogenic/picturesque. A MUST SEE!
