Canyon de Chelly may not be the best-known of the national parks/monuments, but it is well worth of visit if you are anywhere nearby. There are spectacular views from the canyon rims, plus it is possible to go down to the floor of the canyon by hiking (if you're up to it) or "jeep" tours with Native American guides (guides... This canyon is amazing with spectacular overlooks, including a few cliff dwellings and the flat canyon floor where three rivers converge. Worth the drive. There is an awesome film at the visitor center; this is a must-see for sheer beauty and Navajo culture.

We booked a tour through Beauty Way, a small, Navajo family-owned tour business. One of their tour guides demonstrated the atlatl, the precursor to the bow. We booked a five-hour tour and had a great time but didn't get out to Spider Rock because of wash conditions in that area. The canyon has been used for many movie locations, most... More

The canyon is great even though it is not as deep as others in the Utah/Arizona area. It is difficult to appreciate the variety and beauty without visiting the canyon floor at multiple locations. In mid-May 2017, there was lush greenery and flowing water visible in spots.

We found the trip worth it, even though we were based in Cortez, CO, about 2 1/2 hours away. Beautiful scenery during this mid-May visit. We purchased the tour guide brochure at the Visitor Center and were glad we did. There is little in the way of explanatory information at the advertised stops. In places, there is the opportunity for... More

We stopped at all the overlooks......there you will also find the local Navajo Indians with some beautiful, authentic crafts for sale to a much better price then in the stores. We could not take the walk down the Canyon since most in my party were elders and it would have been to hard for them to hike down the Canyon... More

Claims to be grander than the grand canyon. On that point, I must disagree. That being said, though, I really enjoyed our driving tour of Canyon de Chelly and I think it has a completely different vibe than the Grand Canyon, not to mention that it is waaaaay less busy/touristy. Gorgeous landscapes, breathtaking views. Drove the south rim up until... More

Off the beaten track and absolutely stunning! Tours available to the floor of the canyon and one hiking trail you can do without a guide.

Most overlooks are a short walk from your car and the views are beautiful. See the North in the morning and the South drive in the afternoon/evening. The first overlook on the North side needs a lot of improvements. Rocks on the side of you walkways guide your way but can have a question of where to walk. Walking over... More

The South Rim drive was full of great views and the best was last with an overall view of the Canyon and Spider Woman's Tower. The White House trail also provided great views all the way down and back. We decided to just tour on our own and the only trail to canyon floor open to the general public is... More
