It is a very nice observation deck but parking is limited. This site is located along the Courtenay Parkway North. If you are coming from the north and turn off US 1 it can be a little intimidating due to the NASA restricted area signs. Keep traveling for 8 miles until you see the sign for the Manatee viewing. Most map functions should direct you straight to it. The turnoff will be to the east side of the road. Parking is limited to about 12 spaces. When it is really crowded I have seen people parked along the side of the road. The viewing area is right off the parking lot less than 50 feet from the parking lot. It has a ramp for easy access. The concrete raised section is about 100 feet long looking over the river. It has a ramp for people with limited mobility. There are informational signs along the railing and question and answer signs on the signs nearest to the parking lot. We were there for 15 minutes and there was a manatee that surfaced several times. It is a very nice observation deck but parking is limited.

We saw a herd of 20 manatees. They were swimming around in the canal. There were about 5 or 6 in a small cove at the left end of the observation deck. They would move around in the cove, go out into the canal and back in. It was the most manatees we ever saw. The yemoerature in the canal was about 74 and the sign said manatees come in here when water us above 70.

Great place to see Manatees. Usually plenty around. Bugs can be really bad on evening. Have repellant with you. Kayaker usually in lagoon looking also. Boat ramp usually has more.

It was a surprise to see so many manatee around in May. We were able to see them frolick and play near the shore. We also were able to see them when we were on the boat. This is a good place to relax and watch. It's even good for reading or napping. Don't miss the opportunity to relax here.

This was a very interesting spot. It's about a 15 minute drive from Max Brewer bridge in Titusville. The parking lot is right by the viewing deck, so there is very little walking, The day we were there there were 10 to 15 very active manatee, which was a treat. There is always something special about seeing such a large animal in its natural setting. Spent maybe 15 minutes watching the manatee and reading the placards and then drove back.
I'd do it again.

The days I went recently bridge was closed. And were stuck on other side of the bridge. where their is a boat landing. Where there is many more manitees to see along the dock which you can walk along. When visiting I now visit both sides of bridge. Their was about a half dozen on the 4 or 5 times I visited.

So I'm looking at a platform out over the canal. No. You are on a deck barely above the water, maybe 5-6 feet, but also back from the water, behind the rocks by about the same distance. You are nowhere near the water. We saw three manatees, barely, but since you're looking out across the canal you're at the mercy of thevmanatees surfacing and the sun glinting off the water, plus the limited visibility in the water.

We came to see Manatees and stopped at the Wildlife Refuge visitor center where they recommend we go the the Observation Deck. We were fortunate that some locals who were kayaking told us to go to the boat landing across the road. The Manatees are more frequently seen there than at the Observation Desk. We were not disappointed at the Boat launch. We saw seven Mantees including a mom with a calf.
