Stopped in to have supper have been here before always had a great experience. This time it did not disappoint ! Waitstaff here has always been top-notch. You can tell they are trained properly and give great service. Even the young man in the gift shop was very helpful ended up buying a t-shirt. Excellent service excellent food what more... More

We were disappointed in our visit here. The building in dated and n need of updating. We were there for happy hour and they had a DJ however he didn't play a lot of blues. Then he left and we thought great live blues but not...trivia instead and from what we saw only on team. Don't waste your time here... More

Popped in after dinner and it was another Gas Lamp week night trivia night. Now I like Jeopardy and Trivia Pursuit but there is only so much talking over a loud speaker I can stand in a bar that is all about the music. Clearly its locals night...that's cool but I wanted at least some good juke box music...no sir,... More

Great venue to take a date for dinner and rock and roll experience. The blues culture mix with the Mexican culture in a rock theme environment invites for having a good time with music and a couple of drinks. The restaurant is next to the concert hall. They have a variety of dinner food in a gourmet presentation. Fair prices... More

We had family in town that wanted to go and I was a bit skeptical. Glad I went! The music was free and Robin Henkel did a great job of playing and giving us some history. It was very enjoyable and informative. The food was very well priced and tasty, plus service was very good. I'd go back!

Starting with the positive. The inside experience was phenomenal! The venue is exactly what you expect for a downtown private music performance. The main floor is SRO for about a thousand people. The upstairs balcony is for ADA and VIP, and includes the menu (which I assume is prepared by the attached full restaurant of the same name). Stage, lighting,... More

I've been lucky enough to hit up a lot of HOB locations and this happens to be far and away the worst. While in town on vacation I was lucky enough to catch Thrice in concert here. The venue itself is tiny and then has a lot of odd shaped rooms off the main stage area for people who just... More

We saw Shinedown and while the show was great the club itself really packs people in here. Its very difficult to get around once the headliner comes up. Someone passed out from the heat and cramped nature. Most concerts have you waiting in line around the block. Once you get in try to get a standing spot in front of... More

Was on the way back from Balboa Park and stopped in. Great variety of beer -- hubby loves IPA and there were plenty for him to choose. Service was great -- attentive but not pushy. Fav thing on the menu was the voodoo shrimp. A must try.

House of Blues is a fun venue for a concert. I've been to many concerts here. Good views from all over the place. The acoustics are good. Drinks are crazy, expensive. $11 for a rather small vodka + soda. Sheesh. I will say that it is quite an unsavory part of downtown San Diego. There are so many homeless people... More
