This museum is free (although there is a a suggested donation of $10 near the exit), and well worth the visit. Most of the items inside are from the private Timken and Putnam collections. There is an entire room of some of the most exquisite Russian/Orthodox icons. There are about 6 small galleries and the atrium has a display concerning... More

This art museum takes donations to help keep it running. It's a relatively small collection but an impressive one. Treat yourself to a stroll through this lovely building to enjoy a diverse collection.

This is a small museum but a real jewel. And, it is free. We found it much more interesting than the much bigger Museum of Art next door.

Free...Always free so you gotta visit. Yes they have a tip/donation jar as you exit as well as a recommended amount of $10 Lots of very good old old religious art and portraits. Heinous cloth on the walls that remind me of faded drapes or an old couch at grandmas house.

It seemed a rather small museum with very few outstanding pieces. The suggested entry price of $10 seemed a bit much for what was on offer. Skip this one and see the Art Museum of San Diego instead.

We enjoyed a walk around this small gallery. I liked the story of the sisters who collected so much of the art.

This small collection is housed at Balboa Park. There were three gorgeous huge tapestries at the entry from the 1600s and some lovely Russian icons. The paintings were not very interesting. Good thing there was no charge, although they suggested a donation at the exit.

Small museum, but very lovely works of art inside. I was very happy to see the lovely work by van Dyck on display. Friendly staff too!

True, I picked the above quote in the Photography Arts Museum. But it applies to any art any place any time: you see what your mind expect to find, based on all you know and believe. As for myself, I was pleasantly surprised to find interesting art in this place. While not necessarily absolutely top rate paintings, there are still... More
