I am not really interested in cars or vehicles, but surprisingly, I enjoyed this place because of the 1950s camping car display. While the shiny collection was nice, the camping car was fascinating, including the video of the man who took 7 years and $75K to build it. Video shows how he changed tires while the car was still moving,... More

Since we were in Balboa Park, we thought we would stop in a see what they had to offer for vintage and museum-trending cars. The cost was $9 per person and it was probably $8 too much. The showroom is very small with little to offer. Probably the best part of the museum was the Fabulous $75,000 Car Exhibit. There... More

Had an hour to kill and we went to the San Diego Automotive Museum at Balboa Park. Entrance fee was reasonable ($6.00) and museum was having a British Classic Cares and Motorcycles show. Really interesting to see cars used in james Bond films, RR limo used by the Queen and quite a variety of others.

A very nice museum if you like cars. Visited during their British Invasion which had several British cars. There are also several American cars. All the cars were in pristine condition. Many were on loan to the museum. It was a fun afternoon looking at all the cars and the motorcycles. There are coloring pictures for the kids to sit... More

We visited during the "British Invasion" very nice cars, wish there were more American cars. Staff was quite and seemed very un-personable. Can't say I'd recommend this place unless you love British cars.

I came with my dad and brother a few months ago. There are a few things to see including old cars and even a one passenger car. The museum is very small, but very cool.

I have good memories of visiting the museum on our recent vacation to San Diego, primarily because of Louie Mattars Fabulous Car (went cross-country without stopping in the 50's, car changes its own oil, there is video of Louie changing tire while the car is moving, many amenities like washing maching built into car). It was the most entertaining thing... More

On a quick visit to San Diego we took a side trip to Balboa Park and the San Diego Automotive Museum. My partner was once associated with the National Automotive History Collection in Detroit and is a librarian volunteer at California Automotive Museum in Sacramento: this is one of the many auto museums we have visited in the past few... Some old, some new, some dreams! I loved the video about the flying car. I gotta get me one of those. LOL. The display and story about the $75000 car that non-stop traveled from Alaska to Mexico was interesting.

Museum had a lot of interesting concept cars. My favorite car was the $75,000 car that was designed for non stop travel and was self-sufficient. Enjoyable museum.
