This is a good place to spend an hour or so with kids. Lots of fun little displays and exhibits. Also an IMAX theater with a number of showings to choose from. Our kids enjoyed everything.

This place is a complete misnomer. It is an IMAX theater. If you're going there to watch a movie, swell. Otherwise there is nothing "science" about it. My visit brought a very weak circus exhibit to see. And that's it. Have you read the book...More
Opened in 1974 the Fleet was the first in the nation to combine interactive exhibits with IMAX and a Planetarium. Upgraded frequently since then, and still a leader in the field. Named for the founder of the Airmail Service in the U.S. The best interactive...More
We went to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center to take in an I Max movie that was playing there. We actually bought a membership as many great I Max movies okay here and we don't want to miss out on any of them. This...More
Hello, Tom! We're so happy you had a great experience during your visit. Thank you for supporting the Fleet and becoming a member. See you soon!
I don't know where to start. The exhibit seemed so cheap - almost like a high school event. The science was really missing (seriously, who needs to see what a "Stranger Than Fiction" exhibit looks like). And the two activities for kids overwhelmed the exhibit....More

In Vancouver BC, we have a similar sort of attraction (Telus World of Science). I haven't visited that attraction since the sixth grade and I guess there is a reason for that. My boyfriend and I were very underwhelmed when we realized it's an attraction...More

Brought a 3 and 6 year old here and they loved it. Even though they spent about half the time in "Kid City" (not so much science), they enjoyed the rest of the exhibits too. So many things to interact with and very interesting demonstrations...More
Hello, TLC_Cal! Thank you so much for your comment. We're glad that you had a great experience with us, and we hope to see again at the Fleet.
The science center is fairly small and old compared to the other offerings in Balboa Park. There are perhaps 15 exhibits most of which can be done and experienced in less than 20 minutes. We went back to several exhibits multiple times and still got...More
Hello, Shamara101! Thank you for your comment. We’re very sorry you felt that the exhibits were disappointing. We bring in multiple traveling exhibitions each year, and we constantly repair and refurbish our permanent exhibits. We pride ourselves on consistently providing our guests the best experience...More
A great, if not a bit small, hands-on science museum! My 3 year old had a great time exploring and the Circus exhibit was particularly fun and interesting to explore. She really loved the Fun Zone made especially for kids infant to 5 years old....More

This science center is really a children's museum, though there are a few exhibits that will interest adults. Since I did not go with children, I wasn't too interested in the "Messy Science" demonstrations with mentos and club soda. However, the sensory touch exhibit, demonstrating...More
Hello, Rose_Mist! We’re always looking for feedback from our community. We’re sorry you felt that the exhibits were only geared towards children. We bring in multiple traveling exhibitions each year, and we constantly repair and refurbish our permanent exhibits to cater to most age groups....More
