The San Diego Museum of Man is your museum! Join the hundreds of thousands of people each year who come to see its exhibits on beer, monsters, torture, race, human and primate evolution, and more. You can also experience one of most important ancient Egyptian collections in the United States, which includes authentic Egyptian mummies, an exceptionally rare child sarcophagus, and one of the world's few surviving examples of Nefertiti's cartouche. Also, for the first time in 80 years, we are now offering guided tours of the California Tower - one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. Tower tour tickets are timed like theater tickets, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance to secure your desired date and time.

This was very disappointing. My 9 yr old was disappointed by all the not appropriate exhibits that had nothing to do with anthropology but was more about political agenda. My older children were saddened to see their childhood favorites no longer a part of museum...More

I wasn't sure what to expect but this is a great little museum. It overviews the history of man and how he/she impacted various things in the world. It explores the history of beer! Yes beer! There are Egyptian mummies, it explores racism in society,...More

I was excited to go to the Museum of Man, expecting it to be about anthropology. Unfortunately, what I got instead was a museum lacking direction. There was no rhyme or reason to the selection of exhibits, and the exhibits themselves had no choreography. Making...More

Was expecting more from this museum, so we were all a little disappointed. Visited the cannibals exhibit. The main museum had a few areas but most were dumbed down and only informative for the very young.More

I first visited the Museum of Man many years ago. Back then, they had exhibits featuring the stages of EARLY man. Perfect for me, because I was studying that period of human history. Unfortunately, those exhibits are gone. Now they have several distinctive shows. Best...More

I don't need to bother with a zoo. And I almost didn't go to Balboa Park, because I didn't know if there was any point. But I'm so glad I visited the Museum of Man, it's a gem in of a place. When I was...More

We bought the combination ticket and climbed the California tower before we toured the museum. For a local museum, it had much to offer. There were a lot of school groups there when we visited, but the museum is large enough to not really notice....More

Hi--well good news and bad news. Museums are free to resident's on Tuesdays, but the cannibal exhibit is extra charge even on free days. Good luck!
