Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

We are from Philadelphia....Home of the first zoo and I must admit The Philadelphia Zoo pales in comparison to the beautiful San Diego Zoo. We went here with our boys who are 10 and 15 and they also really enjoyed the zoo. The pandas were...More

We had a great day at the zoo. One of our teenagers has health issues and walking up and down hills in heat is not possible. We went early and took the bus tour right away, which allowed us to see a lot without walking....More

Well worth the price of admission! Beautiful grounds with a wide variety of well-enriched animals. Enough shaded areas on hot days and a good assortment of food and no lack of souvenir stands. Maps are a little difficult to read and could use more directional...More

The zoo was very busy but was able to accommodate large crowds on a Saturday afternoon. The animals were all out and visible. Worth the stop, but map out what you wan to see if you do not have an entire day to spend there.

The animals for the most part are open and not in cages. It is very hilly so wear good walking shoes or take the open air double decker bus. I highly recommend taking the bus early then decide what you want to see

Be prepared to do a lot of walking. This has to be one of the best zoos that I have ever been to. Large parking lot which was free. Some hills, plenty of restrooms. Has a few attractions such as a sky ride from one...More

Wonderful place to visit. Many different species of animals. A must see. Bring a good pair of sneakers or walking shoes. Takes at least 4 hours to see but well worth it.

We are supporters of the Zoological Society, so we can visit when we want and not worry about the daily costs, so we tend to go for a couple of hours with specific missions in mind. This is the BEST zoo in the USA, and...More

Yes but it’s worth starting with the bus tour to get a feel for where everything is and have a look around.

No dining pass either and you are not allowed to bring food or drinks into the park. If you buy a specially marked zoo cup you get &red refils all day but this program might have changed since the last time I was there
