Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

We went their as a group of 4 friends, we were all disappointed but maybe it is more for children or we visited it at noon times where most of the animals were napping, Bus tour was fine but had to wait like 45 minutes, another long queue for the cable car which was not worthy.

Myself having been born and raised in California have never been to the world famous San Diego zoo, I am finally glad I finally got to visit. Bring a good pair of walking shoes because that's what you're going to be doing a lot of. There is a nice bus system that circles the park and had a tour guide... More

If you have a checklist of animals to see, definitely hit up the San Diego Zoo. In particular what I find you cannot see at most other zoos are the Pandas and the Koalas. The Lions were surprisingly active while we were there! The buses took a bit to figure out but are worth doing so as it'll preserve everyone's... More

Wow pricey! My 4 year old's ticket was $80. This zoo has lots of hilly walking. I was however surprised how many animals we saw active. They have a nice bus tour and sky tram and wish we had done these first. Be prepared to pay $$$. A slice of pizza and beverage for two at lunch cost $28!

Pair this with a visit to the Safari Park and save $10. Great zoo that is better to visit on a school day during the late afternoon.

Admission was pricey ($100?) and we got lost several times, but the animals are all wonderful. The animals are obviously well treated as they tended to interact with the guests more than what I've seen at other zoos.

We live an hour's drive from the zoo but join every year because we want to support the extraordinary support provided to wildlife, education, and the community. We take all of our guests to the zoo & enjoy with our extended family.

I have been to zoos all over the world and have seen animals from the common cow to the rare Tasmanian devil, but nothing has compared to this zoo. From knowledgeable staff to food options and rare animals, this zoo has it all. I'm very impressed and would encourage everyone to check it out when they are on the West... More
