Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

Originally our family wasn't going to visit the zoo. There were so many other things we had planned for our trip, I wasn't sure we could fit it in. But we decided to go for a couple of hours - we end up staying for over 5 hours! We started our day with a bus tour - awesome way to... More

So many cool animals. I recommend taking the tour. I rode on the top of the bus . We got to see polar bears , Lions, elephants , koalas , other exotic animals I never heard of 😭. The skyfari was fun too. You get Ariel view of zoo and surroundings. It zooms you to the other side of the... More

Certainly, a trip to San Diego has to involve a visit to the San Diego Zoo. There are some issues to be aware of. Tickets are up to $52 a person (some discounts are available). The price includes a skyride and a 40" tour. Also, there are "express" buses that stop in 4 locations. The exhibits are well done and... More

Really nice zoo. We did a fast visit on my last day at a conference. Really nice environment and display. I liked that you could see many of the animals up close and go around the enclosure. I really don't like the vans driving around. Maybe golf carts for people who need assistance but the overview trolley tour was unnecessary... More

While the animals and all were great, I loved just walking in the zoo for its plants and flowers. I've been to many great zoos and in some cases have been closer to the wildlife than here but this beats the others for putting you in a position to see them in the most likely way as they would be... We started our day with the guided bus ride which was informative and also gave us an idea what portions of the zoo we wanted to visit on foot (which was pretty much all of it). The exhibits are nice and the habitats kept clean. I appreciate that the zoo provides a safe place for rescued animals and also aids... More

This was a second visit. We love the zoo. There is some construction underway but that was ok. Weather was good. Some predators were sleeping but we were able to see most. Do rent the strollers if you have young kids. Walking the zoo drinking beer- now that an experience in itself.

Lived up to its reputation, lots of great exhibits and well laid out for human navigation and the residents. Unfortunately there was lots of construction so on this trip we had to make some detours. Lines long for the guided bus tour which we were looking forward to and didn't make. Overall one of the best sites to visit in... More

My second time being there and it never fails. There are so many animals to look forward to seeing and usually you can see most of them even on a busy day. I do recommend good walking shoes because the map is huge and took us a full day of being there! But very worth it!
