Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

As UK visitors, we were very saddened and upset to see some animals, particularly, the large cats kept in VERY small, confined enclosures with many of the beautiful felines pacing up & down, looking anything but happy and content. We hadn't expected to be see...More

Do yourself a favor and take the bus around the zoo before you start out on your day. It gives you a general layout and may be all you want to see of some of the animals while devoting your time to the "must see"...More

It's a really big zoo and you can easily spend whole day and not get done. Diverse animals and bird. Generally easy to navigate. Pretty busy though, there are food options everywhere but long line on holidays and a bit expensive. Overall great experience!

Seriously, place is huge! Can't do it all in one day, 100 acres! It was really awesome, my 5 year old loved it. We took advantage of everything our pass allowed for, the guided bus tour, the kangaroo bus, the 4D movie, the skyfari, we...More

Go there if you do nothing else! We went for opening which unexpectedly had a lovely surprise to see- I won't ruin it, it's worth it though and also it gets busier through the day. Also it's cooler first thing so animals were more active...More
