An interesting art centre with some artists in attendance. Some were friendly, talkative and helpful. Others ignore you. Lots of things to choose from if you are looking for a gift for someone. The plaza is nice to visit and just sit with a cold drink. Lots of directional signs to help get around the park. Allow lots of time... More

There are over 35 shops in this small village at the top end of Balboa Park and it is quite pretty although quite commercial

Pros: It's quaint (although pretty run down) and free. Cons: This is a collection of some 40+ artist studios or arts/crafts shops. I toured the Village during one of the Open Studio events where essentially all of the artists were present. I encountered one lady about 52 years old. Every single other artist was over 60. The age range was... More

I am sorry that you didn't have the experience you expected at Spanish Village Art Center. As one of the artists I wish you would have taken the time to explore what we are all about. We are an "Artist Community" not a "Fine Art Gallery" all of our artists must go through an jury process in order to become... More

I went here after reading a suggestion on Trip Advisor. Some of the artists were very friendly and willing to talk and explain their art. I watched a demo where one artist showed me how he makes mobiles out of old plates. I was the only person watching the demo and it was like having a one on one class.... More

This small little area is filled with quality artifacts and crafts. Go when the sun is down and you'll get plenty of good pictures under the beautiful trees and artistic setup. It's free.

The Spanish Village Art Center is a joy to behold. The quality and variety of the art is excellent. There's much handmade beauty to enjoy and to buy. It's quiet, pretty and the shops are friendly -- like an art fair every day!

The multitude of artisans in the Spanish Village have a wide variety of hand made goods -- art, wood carvings, weaving, gems, etc. You can always find interesting gifts here. Plus the stroll through the village is fun.
