This hardware store has everything! It’s also located in a beautiful timeless building. The staff is friendly and helpful - and very patient with us Elvis fanatics.

What a great place!

Walking in was like walking back in time before the big box stores took over. This is a working Hardware Store but they do have a sign welcoming Elvis tourists. I have to admit I came here for the Elvis story really but had a great time here. The staff was extremely friendly (probably helped that they weren't busy) and we had a very lengthily conversation on just about everything. Learned about the construction of the southern high ceiling buildings, amongst other tidbits. for example.

Definitely worth a visit for it's place in music history, but if you need any hardware item this is also the place to find it.

Great staff and looks exactly as it did in 1940's. Think they could carry more general stock as some tourists like me would buy. Nice teeshirts too.

As an Elvis fan we stopped in not expecting what we left with. Wish I would have caught the gentleman's name. He saw me taking photos and could easily see o was there to see the spot Elvis got his guitar. This nice man shared his knowledge and history of Elvis and the store. So glad we got to talk to him. The way he told the story it was easy to put yourself as an observer of that day Elvis left with his guitar.

We arrived to check out this "icon" of the days of ma & pa hardware before 5 understanding they were closing at 530 when stopping in Tupelo, MS on vacation. My family used to own and operate such a store, so it meant something special to me. We walked up at 4:57 and they were locking the door behind them. Despite the sign on the door clearly showing their hours of operation from 7 till 530. We were informed that was pre-pandemic. I could only reminisce by looking in their windows. It appears to be a big place. Maybe another time. I wonder if they still sell guitars to young boys and their parents?

Ok this is a free thing to do and look around. This place was awesome and very old! The floors are hardwood and so much history! The employees were so nice and wanted to talk and tell you about the place!
Yes..Elvis was there, find the. "X" on the floor and tak a photo it was neat!
Prices are reasonable and they had everything!

Just a neat place to walk through!

Thanks,
Michele & Clint from Florida

Went in to just see if they had any info about Elvis receiving his 1st guitar there. Was greeted by an older gentleman who was more than happy to share stories about it. They have a letter from Mr Bobo who worked there on that very day and remembered it exactly. The counter where Elvis actually stood is still there. The exact spot marked by an x on the floor. Everything in the hardware store is exactly as it was back when Elvis & his mom went there. 4 generations of the same family haven owned the business & still do to this day and they want to always keep it original.

The sweet gentleman at the counter gave a lot of information, let’s you take as many pictures as you wish and even tells you other places to visit in the area.

They do have a few baseball caps & tiny souvenirs, but they never make you feel like you have to buy anything. All history & info is free. Of course I did purchase a few things however. Thank you Tupelo hardware for being true southern hospitality

Such a cute store, highly recommend. Not often you see old hardwood stores like this one and the personnel were so helpful and engaged.

Ok it’s a hardware store. A store where Elvis’ mom bought his first guitar. It’s free and easy to find. Has a nice photo op in the front.

What a friendly little find in Tupelo MS! The overall ambiance is a throwback to the hardware stores that were the hubs of many small towns...wood floors, walls lined to the ceiling with everything you need (or want) for DIY projects and friendly, knowledgeable staff. You can even buy a nice guitar, just like when Elvis's mother bought his first guitar here! Don't miss this if you find yourself in Tupelo!
