Neighbourhood: Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
How to get there

Commonwealth Avenue Mall is a stretch of greenery with several memorials along the way. If you're heading to the public garden, you might as well take a stroll here as well.

This is a wide walkway in the median between the two sections of the road. There are statues along the way and overall, it is a nice location to walk. I don’t think it is worth a separate trip but certainly worth walking down, if you are in the area.

We walked the entire length of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall from Boston Park to near Fenway. Statues and buildings along the way were interesting to see.

I walked along Commonwealth Avenue Mall in November 2021. In Back Bay, there are three parallel avenues - Boylston Street, Newbury Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Each of them is worth walking on if you are staying in Back Bay. The beginning of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall is located across from Boston Public Gardens. It is full of trees, benches and some statues.

This is a very long tree lined street for pedestrians only. The walkway is punctuated every now and then with statues of famous people. It is great for taking long walks.

My girls found this strip of gardens amazing to run, cartwheel and explore. A great outdoor haven in a big city.

Paths are well maintained and full of people and kids and dogs on a beautiful day in winter. Highly recommended instead of taking the city streets.

This is a very pretty part of town near Boston University and a great place to stroll or maybe to linger. It's very central to the city.

Beautiful avenue with gorgeous mansions & brownstones -- it was modeled on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. Beautiful statues including a memorial to the firefighters who died in the Vendome fire, and memorials to important figures in history. Romantic and inspiring to walk along

This is a nice break from Copley and the sightseeing. A long green space with beautiful brownstones on the side and some fine statues, including the Boston Women’s Memorial.
