Warm welcoming visitors center with clean bathrooms, composting toilets, great veranda with Adirondack chairs; hiking trails, picnic tables and park benches; large dock, nice beaches; well worth the $17.00 boat ride; Yoga classes; TaiChi classes, island tours with park rangers

The ferry ran to time and was clean and pleasant. The Island was so relaxing. We took the perimeter walk and you could hear the waves on one side and the crickets on the other. The rocky beach was fun to walk over and there...More

So like everyone else we went to the island to search for seaglass. You don't even have to look for it, it's everywhere. Sad part is, it's illegal to remove it as well as shells from a National Park. And for the record, they do...More

This island, originally Boston's junk heap, today natural reservation, is the most beautiful place I visited during my stay in Boston. It is so picturesque and photogenic. I spent there a day and couldn't stop taking pictures. I truly loved it. There is a small...More

I had the pleasure of chaperoning a 6th grade trip to the "island". Took a ferry from Boston and docked at the pier. There is a very informative center that explains how the island came to be. I recommend taking that in, otherwise you won't...More

Took the ferry over to Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands, for a round trip fee of $17. It's pretty enough, but there really isn't much to it and there's nothing to do there. I only stayed for a half hour and got...More

A 20 minute ferry ride from Long Wharf in Boston takes you to a beautiful small island with walking trails, swimming beach, beautiful views of the city and of the other harbor islands. A wonderful getaway from the city. Gorgeous fields of wildflowers and grasses.

I went here with a friend and we spent about 2 hours wandering around the island. The little restaurant was cute, a bit pricey but they have a captive audience. There was also live jazz which was nice.

Spectacle Island was a great little dose of nature when we needed a break from the city. We love Boston and have visited many times but I was looking to explore something new. We brought one teenager, some snacks and swimsuits. Took the 11:30 ferry...More

We went there on a bright sunny day coz that's the kind of weather which is best suited for a picnic on the Island. We took a ferry from Boston. We got the ferry from Long Wharf. We had booked the tickets online in order...More

Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like
being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and
Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants,
bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part
in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or
Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma
sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s
home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church

They have a workshop on sea glass during the summer, but we did not walk the beach so we cannot confirm that there is sea glass. We walked on the trails on the island. I believe the ferry stops running to Spectacle Island by... More

Sea glass certainly washes up there, but collecting it is forbidden by the Park Service.

That is a great question! I believe you could take a ferry from Hingham (or Salem MA but that is north).
