We arrived before the boat ride opened at 10am. Spent some more quality time with the ducks. Each boat seats 15-20 and is powered and steered by a crew member in a figure eight pattern around the duck pond. The ride lasts about 15 minutes. We did spot turtles and the resident ducks diving for grub. A beautiful, peaceful respite... More

This was part of our Boston GO Pass -- and after a half of day of walking, we were excited to take a break on this Swan Boat. It was such a fun experience. Everyone on the boat were happy and good spirited. There was a guy on our boat who grew up in Boston and never experienced the Swan... More

A simple Boston tradition. A pontoon boat with benches. In the back the operator sits between two large swans, pedaling to move the craft around the lake. A simple, slow way to spend 15 minutes.

One of the "to do things " in Boston but beware they stop around Labor Day early September .But the Boston Park and Common are well worth a visit and stroll around on the sunny autumn days

This is something everyone should do when in Boston. It only takes about 15 minutes and if the lines are not to long, an easy in and out. You are paddled around the lake past landscaped vistas on a pond lined with willow trees. The fee for seniors is only $3.00 a person. The schedule changes after Labor day.

The boat ride is a mere $3.50; the best value for your buck in the entire city. Is it exciting...no! Is it memorable...not particularly. But is it a pleasant, relaxing time amongst the beauty of the Public Garden...YES! It is old-fashioned and quaint and tranquil. Just do it and you won't be sorry. The line, if any, goes very quickly... More

Costing just $3.50 this is a great activity for a sunny Boston day. Obviously for that cost don't expect a super long sightseeing boat ride - but do expect a fun, relaxing, beautiful boat ride through the pond. A must-do for anyone strolling through the Public Garden.

Great for little kids especially. Great views of city, park and ducks. Worth the $3.50 for adults. It takes about fifteen minutes. Just a cute tourist thing to do.

This was really fun and I would have even done it again if we had more time. These are not individual boats that you paddle yourself though (which is what my kids expected). It's a fairly long boat with rows of benches and someone sits in the very back and pedals. It was fun going around the pond, seeing many... More

I can't believe it's been in the same family since the 1800's! For that reason alone, we should support it! It's an incredible reminder of the past - the boats are original and exquisite in their truest form of unspoiled history. The ride is the definition of a pleasant experience; a fresh breath calm and quiet :)

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
