We stopped here after a full weekend on asheville. The leaves had just turned. It was beautiful. We enjoyed the visitors center. However, the 1.2 hike was even more impressive. You need to stop here. Perfect for families with young kids.

Plenty of places to park, has public restroom and most likely can answer any question you may have about the parkway and they surrounding area. Pleasant people.
