Highland Brewing Company has crafted the highest quality beer with North Carolina mountain water since 1994. Family-owned and Asheville’s first legal brewery since Prohibition, it is a favorite destination for beer fans, music fans, and families. From the balanced, food-pairing favorite Gaelic Ale, to the tad aggressive, fruit and pine hop-burst of Highland IPA, the portfolio always showcases quality. Highland’s name honors the Scots Irish who settled in the Appalachian Mountains in the 18th and 19th centuries. To learn more about the nationally recognized solar array, tours, private events, free live music and more, visit the brewery for a pint or a tour!

We spent a few hours here enjoying some flights that were served by the very attentive staff. It is an open air location that has a great warehouse ambiance with plenty of room to stretch out. There are private entertaining areas and some sort of event venue attached as well. We happened to be here on Wednesday when Woody Wood... More

We toured Highland Brewery last Saturday evening and it's really an amazing small batch brewery. Our tour guide who is also a student at ABtech was very informative, gave great detail during the tour which started off with a small but free cup of beer. The tour is free of course too. There were 3 different food trucks on the... More

This has been, so far, my favorite brewery. I wish I had written down all of the beers we had tried. Gaelic Ale, Rasberry Tart Ale, and Wolfgang were some of my favorites that I remember names of! The tour was super informative and fun. I should have remembered our guide's name! He was great. I felt like I could... More

Nice family place for kids & dogs. There is a great supply of beer, several food trucks, live music and lots of room to play.

We had friends visit from out of town, none of us had been on a brewery tour so we booked at the last minute. We had a wonderful, personable tour guide and he made the hour both informative and lively. The history of the founder of the Highland Brewing Company was most interesting - reinforces the entrepreneurship of Americans! This... More

We have toured many breweries across our nation, Highland Brewing Company (HBC) is by far the top of the list. We were much at awl as we drove into the facility. We drove over a hill and witnessed the huge beautiful complex that almost took our breath away. The tour is very informative and enjoyable. We started with one beer... More

Very low key environment but educational tour and they didn't mind little ones joining which was nice! Their beer is very tasty and they had live music and a food truck the day we went with plenty of outdoor seating. It's nice to visit and support a local brewery-they even partner with local nonprofits every month which is great! We... More

We hung out for an hour or two and tried some of their beer. They do not serve food and the tasting area was very large. Clean bathrooms as well. Honestly not much more to say about this place. Great beer and a lot of seating availability. I think they do live music here as well.

Abby gives a wonderfully informational tour regarding the history of Highland Brewing Company as well as a great walk through of the brewing process. Their flagship beer (Gaelic Ale) is wonderful (and you get a tasting of it as part of the tour), and I also recommend the Mandarina IPA for you fellow IPA lovers.

Saw a reggae band while enjoying 2 flights of beer. Try the Beach Pony IPA . . . it's phenomenal. They have great brews and a warm, happy, family-friendly environment. Neat place. Will definitely return next time we're in town.
