McCormick Field opened its gates for the first time in 1924 when the Asheville Tourists played host to the Detroit Tigers. Over the years the stadium has encountered numerous renovations, most recently a seating bowl makeover in 2015, that has ensured the stadium remains up with the times while keeping its lustrous history and throwback feel. With a capacity of just over 4,000, the dynamic during a game is intimate and scenic. It is a hitter friendly Minor League ballpark thanks to a short porch in right field and a 42-foot high wall in right-center.

McCormick Field is still inhabited by the Asheville Tourists, the Single A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

I've traveled to over 20 minor league parks over the last four summers, and I'd put this in my top five favorites for the uniqueness alone. Short high fences and the stadium is kind of carved into the side of the mountain. Get there early because the parking is a problem. It's kind of in a neighborhood and the spots... More

Great baseball environment! They interact with the fans between each inning. Any seat is great and all people are sooo friendly for. The ticket takers to the waiters in the VIP section. Which by the way costs only $11. The beer is local. In the past 2 days we saw fireworks and received free jersey.

This is the field where Bull Durham was filmed. We enjoyed watching a game from seats right behind the home plate net. A great venue for families - there is a kids' activity between each inning.

Family friendly ballpark, great for kids and adults alike. Vending is a bit pricey, but to be expected at the ballpark. Games often offer some sort of incentive, where you get a discounted ticket.

Seeing the tourists play was a great addition to our trip. I am a lifelong baseball fan and this is one of the better small town minor league stadiums i have been to. It is a short walk from all of the breweries down town. I would not say it is a must see, but if you are into baseball... More

We went on a day when it was not crowded. We sat under the roof in case the rain came. It was a wonderful experience. I am not a fan of large crowds so for me it was perfect. The refreshments we had were good and the seats were nice! Sure beats sitting on concrete. I would say to keep... More

This was our second visit to Asheville and our second visit to McCormick Field, the setting for the movie, Bull Durham. It's a great place to watch a game. The seats are close to the action, and the outfield backdrop of trees makes it even more appealing. After a brief shower, we were even treated to a rainbow...great stuff!

Had a fun time watching a little minor league baseball. Price for tickets was about the same as a movie ticket and concessions prices weren't that bad either (and food was good). Nice family outing!!

We used to catch a few games every season and had a ball in this Single A park and team, with hot dogs, peanuts, sodas, baseball and other entertainment . . . But with all the northerners and half backs moving here, it feels more like Flatbush than a Southern minor league ball park. You go, we'll stay away.
