Getting close to nature alongside and in the French Broad River. Just relax…have fun….walk…run…picnic. Convient and accessible off the Interstate and close to so many more attractions and activities and downtown Asheville. (In season canoeing, rafting, tubing. etc.)

Have always wanted to float down the French Broad River and finally made it through Asheville Outdoor Center. Conveniently located next to Carrier Park and the River Arts District, the AOC does it right and at a reasonable rate. 3 of us decided to kayak down the river on a beautiful day, and after a short safety talk and video,... The 7 mile trip down the French Broad was very enjoyable. We had great weather. The outfitters take you to the drop off point (we did not do the guided tour). At the first bridge there was a guide to ensure everyone went through safely. We took about 2 1/2 hours to meander down the 7 mile trip that skirts... More

We recently went kayaking (rafting was cancelled because low water levels) with our family. Overall trip was great - very gentle ride that was very appropriate for our 4 and 6 year old girls. Beautiful scenery and view of Biltmore. There was some wildlife - a little meager - don't expect much. The only real negative surprise was there was... More

I went canoeing for the first time with this company. The scenery was pretty along the river. I thought we would be with a group the whole time, so that was kind of a surprise when we were not. This was great exercise, and a fun way to see parts of Asheville that I don't normally see while visiting.

My husband, two kids (ages 6 and 8), and I all visited AOC and had called the day before to book 2 person kayaks to the 7 mile trip. Every single person there was super friendly and laid back, and we ended up having our trip all to ourselves at 10am!! DEFINITELY follow the instructions and arrive 45 minutes early... More

We were looking for relaxing, flat water kayaking trip to start off our trip. Tripadvisor helped us find this fine company. The staff is a true selling point. They are friendly, funny and helpful. They have been in that location for many years and have many years of experience. You get dropped off at the put in point and then... More

If you are staying in Asheville and need a simple, fun, inexpensive activity for young kids, stop here. For less than $20, my kids had a blast mining for gems and minerals. Doc helped my kids identify what they found too! It was one of their trip highlights.

I loved the guys at the Asheville Outdoor Center, very accommodating, very attentive, very fun. The river is pleasant and relaxing, no rapids or sweeping sceneries. If you are more adventurous and want a more athletic endeavor, this isn't for you. If you want to relax on the water, this is.
