The Blue Ridge Parkway around Asheville NC is a stunningly gorgeous and peaceful drive. A meandering two lane "go slow so you'll live the moment" road. So many places to stop for an overlook view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, take a quick hike or camp, discover a waterfall - any season is magical. Mt. Mitchell is the highest... More

The weather was rainy during our visit. However it stopped raining long enough for us to take a short drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We saw some nice views and got some good photos.

We have driven the Blue Ridge Pkwy many times. But usually in Summer or Fall. Well, the views are still spectacular in January, when you can see more and farther because of the bare trees. Hiking on a sunny and warm January day was very rewarding. We love the Blue Ridge Parkway.

My husband and I hiked the craggy bottoms area of the BRP. In that stretch of roadway there were countless hikes..both strenuous and easy. I like that you can park, hike in for a short period, and reach amazing pinnacles and views. You don't need to hike for hours for a great vista. It wasn't very crowded so the hiking... More

I have traveled all over the U.S. and to several different countries. During the spring, summer and fall, you will not find a more beautiful place!

Go in the fall...and as much as I'm anti-motorcycle, I feel like that would be a great way to see the parkway. Also a great way to become an organ donor, so may well not be worth it. In any case, it's a slower drive than most, but in the fall especially, it's beyond worth it for the views.

This 475 mile long national park is a must see in the eastern US. Traveling down the Shenandoah valley through the southwestern Virginia mountains, then Grandfather mountain, Mt. Mitchell, Asheville and on over to Cherokee. The changes in the ride are amazing. The trip is worth doing any season of the year. Give yourself at least three days to drive... More

Few roads in America take you from the hustle and bustle of interstates and crowded thoroughfares while emersing you in a panoramic wonderland of majestic mountains, rolling foothills, endless miles of trees and brush, occasionally peppered with high-soaring birds of many species, and abundant parking locations to relieve your "seat pain" and soak up fresh mountain air and vast Carolina... The Blue Ridge Parkway is truly amazing no matter what you like to do. My husband and I ride motorcycles and we have ridden the entire Blue Ridge. It has wonderful twists and turns to enjoy along with wonderful scenery. I doubt it could be created today. Every time we ride there we are impressed anew at the undertaking. The... More

The perfect way to see the mountains. Lots of spots to stop and get out to view or jump on a trail and hike. We had a Fall and Winter experience in one day.
