Fun eclectic art studios nestled in old mill complexes along a river walk. Fiber, jewelry, pottery, photography, paintings etc Even eateries. Fun way to spend a day wondering from each studio. You might even find something to buy or admire. Fun chatting with the artisans.

Great for photo opportunities and fun to visit. Bring deep pockets.
Interesting area for sightseeing and photo opportunities. There is a Summit Coffee and a 12 Bone Barbecue there, however, 12 Bones is closed on the weekends. Go figure. We initially got off at the trolley stop and the next day was able to go back in the car to explore the artists shops. The is free parking there. Although we enjoyed visiting some of the shops we didn’t come away with any purchases. Much of it is pricey I must admit but fun to see. Oh, there are breweries there also but it was early in the morning. Besides we had just visited Highland Brewery the day before(worth a visit).

    Go Visit Ashville
Ashville is a nice little easy walkable city. Many rooftop bars. The former Woolworth store very interesting. Had ice cream at the original soda fountain. The store now houses the works of many local and national artists. Biltmore House a must see.

    Quiet off season (early Feb)
We drove the the area and didn’t get out of the car as most shops looked closed. Had lunch at white duck taco on the water - recommend. Saw a man with all his belongings strapped to the roof of his car at the local laundromat/gas station.

Totally cool and artsy and funky and so much fun to visit!
This area has been rehabbed but not gentrified so it's a fun place to visit and check out all the cool art studios and antique stores. Make sure to visit the Marquee; it's a huge brick building filled with antiques, vintage items and artwork. We could have spent all day there. There is a skatepark and nearby is the river with a Greenway to walk, so you can make a day of it.

This industrial area has been transformed into artists studios and is very nice to visit. There are many, many workshops, mostly of art. It was a Sunday so many were closed but that was fine because there were still a lot of them to see.

We went with a tour group, and had a few hours to visit. The artisans are unique. It is an example of what can be done to help artists.
