We had some family members come down to Florida to visit and literally had a trip to nowhere. We googled this attraction. Went there on this very moment and completely enjoyed the stop.

I mean really, if you're making the drive from Miami to the 10,000 islands region, why wouldn't you make a quick stop here?! Everyone needs to send a postcard back home from time to time.

I have a collection of photos of post offices across the nation, from the ho-hum-typical to the hey-look-at-that-unusual. This one falls into the latter category, and it's a cutie-patutie. I wasn't expecting this along the Tamiami Trail, so it was even more special. It is a functioning post office, dating from the '50s (in a tiny building older than that), so bring your postcards to be mailed or buy some stamps. It will be memorable.

The smallest post office in the U.S. We stopped and bought a post card to mail to ourselves. They have those pre-stamped and ready for you to put the address on for mailing. A fun quick stop on your way to or from the Everglades.

We decided to tour the Everglades loop and this is not to be missed. Bed sure to bring post cards and postage or cash for some. The best part of this experience was the PO attendant! He made sure we felt welcome and left smiling.

This post office is the smallest in the nation. It has been in operation for a number of years since the original in another location burned to the ground. Well worth a photo stop. If it is open when there, I believe I read they have special stamps for tourists. (It was not open when we were there).

Being the smallest post office in the United States makes of this post office a fun landmark to visit.

If you are in the area, stop by and see it for yourself.
You are there to appreciate this famous post but that’s about it. What you see is what you get.

Tip: It’s very close to Big Cypress Nal. Preserve where you can take a tour in a swamp buggy!

We missed going inside by two minutes. The Post Office closed just before we arrived. The outside, however, was still worth stopping for. The post office is tiny! This is really a fun stop in you are near Big Cypress.
