Great landscapes . The Park & View Places should have sun shade shelters

Drove around to view . Felt that some of the viewing spots should consider sun shelters . Just thinking sun smart here and the National Parks should look at this.

It's a fine hike through the Chihuahuan Desert (no shade), but there are plenty of other hikes in Big Bend that do that and take you to a terrific destination, such as the Window or Lost Mine Trails. On Mule Ear (singular is correct) Spring Trail, my opinion is that the view actually worsens the further you hike... assuming you... More

A 3.8mi RT hike in the desert. You end up at a spring which had a small amount of running water when we were there. A stone corral is also there at the end. The views of the mule ears along the way are distant and not a whole lot better than from the parking area. I would wear hiking... More

We hiked the Mule Ears trail in the morning. The views of Big Bend National Park are wonderful. The trail meanders along some uplands and thru washes. The scenery is the best part. We came across the remains of an old stone structure near the spring. We weren't sure if it had been a dwelling, or maybe a corral .... More

I don't know which one is best, to hike early morning or sometime in the afternoon. Is up to you, either way this is somewhat easy hike. However the rocky trail can get tricky. Bring water and time your self.

The spring was underwhelming, but the hike as a whole was beautiful. The shorter (4 mile) trail didn't bring you up to the mule ears, but you get a good view of them. This hike was labeled "moderate" by the park, but I would call it easy as there is very little elevation change.

My husband and I enjoyed the Mule Ears Spring Trail. As we were walking toward the mountains, we met two guys returning on the trail. The guys warned us about a rattle snake about 800 feet down the trail. We proceeded with caution and never saw the snake. We walked about 2 miles one way down the trail to the... More

Didn't hike the trail, but got photos with our mule ears on. Fun stop. The echoes here were superb in the parking lot. Scream and listen - wow!

This "attraction" indeed looks like Mule Ears --- but there more to the view if you have the time for a hike. Take water and sun screen --- you'll need it.

My wife and I started our hiking in Big Bend. It was an interesting, easy hike into a spring. It was a beautiful day and we we'd love to hije it again.
