It is moderate hike(4.8 miles round trip, the rise is around 1000 feet, path is in good condition). The hike down is very easy. The round trip is about 3 hrs. The view at the top is stunning. There are a lot of birds at...More

If you drive all the way to big bend and can only do one hike, this should be it. A little over 4 miles up and back with about 1000 ft elevation change. You will be walking through gorges. next to huge pinion pines, along...More

The Lost Mine Trail offers nice panoramic views of the area for a pretty moderate hike. South Rim and Emory offer better views but with greater effort. The negative of Lost Mine is that the view is pretty much the same all the way up...More

The Lost Mine Trail begins with an uphill climb lasting about two hours until we reached the top of the mountain. The elevation change is about 1,600 feet. The trail is a series of switch backs with some trail type stairs mixed in. There are...More

This hike has outstanding views all along the way. It’s a fairly easy 4.2 round trip and worth the time. The views of the valley and mountains are just breathtaking. Always take water because the evaporative cooling is so high that u don’t realize how...More

We hiked late in the day and the trail was not busy at all. Frankly the park was fairly empty the whole time we were there. I highly recommend you wear hiking shoes to do this trail. It seems pretty easy until you come to...More

Bonus - there is shade on the trail! The views from this trail are incredible. Take snacks and plan to pause at the top to enjoy the view.
