So Study Butte to terlingua and to Ghost town Terlingua are half a day activity. Get a map of the walking tour of Ghost Town, follow it and you will understand the area and have seen enough. To think there had been 80 children in the school tells you it was thriving mining town. Spend some time walking in the cemetery... More

Fun place to stop. Still pretty rustic and not too touristy. Loved the church. Also stopped by the old cemetery. Enjoyed every minute!

Enjoy a trip to Terlingua. Take self-guided the tour of the cemetery and ghost town. Do a little shopping - or at least browse - at the Terlingua Trading Company. There's something for everyone. You may be in for a treat from local musicians jamming on "The Porch." To culminate your visit, pop into the Starlight for a cold drink... More

While visiting Big Bend NP and the nearby Big Bend Ranch State Park, we spent several nights at an RV park in Terlingua. We found the "ghosttown" area to be interesting with a store, several good restaurants, and a few galleries. We especially enjoyed the Sunday afternoon jam session on the front porch of the Terlingua store. There were some... More

When you think of Terlingua you're probably going to image the place where they have the chili cooking event. That's the biggest lure here. But otherwise this is really a dusty, unkempt kind of a whistle stop populated by desert rats congregating together to work activities associated with river rafting. Lots of people like to stop at the Starlight Cafe,... More

We stayed here in a single VRBO cabin for three nights while visiting Big Bend each day. The scenery is just awful. It is an old mining town so there are ugly mine trailings everywhere. It is a quirky town I know but just wasn't our cup of tea. There are some nice views of the distant mountains in Big... More

Located just a few miles west of the western entrance to Big Bend National Park, Terlingua is a fun place to visit and get a good dinner in the evening after a full day of exploring the park. Actually composed of two parts, the closest, Study Butte, is less than 3 miles (4.8k) west at the intersection of TX 118... More

Definitely stop in Terlingua on your way to the park or back from the park. Cottonwood Store is a great little store. It may look little but it literally has everything you could possibly need. Even those with dietary restrictions will not be left wanting.

On our way in and out of Big Bend, we stayed in Terlingua....for those wanting a day away from the park experience, or those who desire a break...this unique town of history, may be the place you want to fill the bill.

The sunsets are amazing! Make sure to be sitting by the Theater when its happening. You can also play a round of horseshoe throwing :). Walk around, talk to locals and discover, it is the best way to experience Terlingua.
