Bandelier National Monument was on our "must see" list while we were in New Mexico. It is an easy walk from the visitor center. The great part is we could turn around, climb the ladders or stairs, or just look as much as we wanted....More

We enjoyed the loop trail as well as the extension that added a 140 vertical ascent by ladder and path and steps to a cave and lookout! The ascent took literally 5 minutes. You can scare yourself out of going but it's really not bad!...More

The park is easily accessible from Santa Fe. The trails are well marked. Fantastic example of Pueblo cliff dwellings, accessible to most people.

Roads to the park are fully paved. Located south of Los Alimos, NM, Bandelier National Monument should also be on your bucket list. Once you are in the parking lot, the rest of the monument is walking. The main loop is a little over a...More

This is one of our park system crown jewels, although you don't hear a lot about it. The trails are great and let you get interactive with the environment. Take a step back 11,000 years to an ancient Native American (ancestral Pueblo people) civilisation and...More

I've been to many National Parks and National Monuments around the Country. The trails are well marked, the place is clean, and the staff/rangers were friendly. Nothing bad here, the information and history is nice. With all of that said, nothing here would make my...More

I happened to read about these cliff dwellings shortly before our trip to Santa Fe. Only 1.25 hrs drive NW from SF on easy roads, this was an unexpected highlight of our trip. We only did the 1.2 mi self-guided walk through one part of...More

Extremely scenic on the way to the Park. The Park itself has to be seen from walking trails.

I do have to use a wheelchair for going any distance. I noticed a post about being wheelchair accessible on one of the trails but wasn't sure it that would get us to the cliff dwellings?

The Main Loop Trail is wheelchair accessible and from the village of Tyuonyi you can see the cliff dwellings. Stairs and ladders are used to access the dwellings.
