My 11 year old son and I decided to travel through Castle Valley while visiting Moab. It was worth the drive. Castle Valley is about 17 miles and goes though the entire plethora of scenery. You get the river, the huge rock cliffs, the valleys, and the grasslands. There are many stop-offs and picture taking opportunities along the river. It... More

It's amazing the variety of landscape in the Moab area. We did this casual drive along the upper Colorado river and turned into Castle Valley on the way. Words can't describe the beauty of this area.

Maybe 20 miles from Moab? It is breathtakingly beautiful here. I've driven through it several times and wish there was more than one resort here, as it is a residential area. Just over the hill (tho you have to go the long way around) is the Fisher Towers area.

Great drive to take out of Moab with spectacular scenery the entire way. Bring a camera and binoculars if you have them. Stop along the colorado river there are lots of birds (herons, eagles, ravens) or even take one of the rafting trips. This section along the road is called the moab daily if you're asking about it to one... More

This is better than watching a movie. Getting outdoors and seeing these enormous rock formations along the Colorado River is a great family activity. The roads into these areas cn be affected by rain - we were on Onion Creek and got into heavy and slippery mud.

This is a nice drive after a hard day. North east on highway 128, for 17 miles, then you turn towards the mountains and climbs out of the canyon with great views. Can continue on the loop road if you have time. The loop road is under construction in 2017 and may be closed.

We were leaving Moab, heading back to Montrose, CO. According to GPS, this route was 7 minutes longer, but OH SO WORTH IT! It got prettier around each bend! Colorado river was on our right for most of it, and cliffs on either side of us. Plentiful pull-offs along the river, which we took advantage of with a lunch on... More

This area has a very good trail system for walking, running and biking. Lots of places to stop and view the wonders of nature.

Hiked out and got off trail. Hooked up with group of people on a guided tour. Got to a ladder I did not like and turned around and went back.

This area has beautiful rock formations but we found it is best to do on a sunny day with blue sky and white puffy clouds otherwise the formations do not have justice done for them.
