Interesting but

This loop drive is interesting but suffers in comparison to other wonderful sights around Moab. Road is probably safe but is somewhat frightening.

We drove this loop because we were staying in the La Sal mountains, and figured we'd take the rest of the loop one morning. Good call. We hit it just past the peak of color in the mountains but it was still very pretty. And dropping down into castle valley was a great way to end the trip. It's so... More

We drove counterclockwise from south of Moab to castle valley where we were staying. The views were amazing with the trees just starting to turn to yellow. The road is narrow, steep at points, with sharp turns and lots of potholes. Cows were occasionally on the road but it's not as if we were going fast. We did encounter an... More

The loop road starts from castle valley and that really does form the best part of the trip. As you turn to drive over the mountain seperating Castle Valley from the Spanish Valley the road gets narrow and gives very little in the form of views until you begin descending towards the Spanish Valley. There is a military tracking station... More

Take the 128 and drive up to the La Sal Loop road and you will see the most spectacular scenery up to Castle Valley. We read about the road on the internet and were amazed with the red colored rocks and beauty along this road and would not have wanted to miss this. It is about a little 30 minutes... More

Beautiful drive, even on a cloudy day we had a gorgeous trip through the mountains. Be prepared for slime tight roads !

I love scenic drives and was excited that this one is close to Moab. I went clockwise. Just took a peak at the recent reviews and would definitely agree that counter-clockwise is the way to go- you would see more views. Thus my review is of going clockwise. Well labeled signs pointing to La Sal Loop Road from Hwy 128.... More

My husband and I stumbled on this loop while in Moab. We have a tendency to wander a bit once we've secured a place to stay. This loop, if I can remember, is about 40 miles long and takes you through some pretty amazing views and vistas. The road can be very narrow in places and you'll have to keep... More

Try and make time to do the la sal loop, you won't regret it. The road is a little bumpy in places but the views are stunning. I think the best way is to start in the south of Moab and Finnish by the Colorado river. This is the opposite way to which the instructions from the information office tells... More

an exellent day's drive in the Moab region of Utrah. We decided to spend time in the car as it was way too hot to visit the parks during the day and were amazed at the change in temperature. Starting in a clockwise direction form Moab town we followed the Colorado river running through a magnificent Gorge . We had... More
