On a whim I decided to head up to Castle Valley and do this loop. I really didn't know what I was getting into. The road was narrow and winding and I was going through areas with lots of snow with spots of ice and slush. But we'd round a corner and get hit with spectacular views. The road is... More

If you want a different angle to look from at the Moab area, this is a great way. You will hardly cross any other tourists on this drive and find some great places for a pick-nick. There's some little mountain lakes, too - a great refreshment on a hot summer day.

high above moab, it was awesome. We saw wildlife that was breathtaking just for a cruise. Be careful the wild turkeys run across the road from time to time. Other than that, we enjoyed it! We drive it again.

Completely different scenery (and temperature) than Moab, even though it's so close. We went to a couple of lakes, but since we didn't have a four wheel drive it was a bit bumpy. Stunning scenery though, with beautiful colours (trees) and views.

Began following the Colorado river and the Mountain Lop from low elevations up narrow switch backs to the forest and the many stunning views were amazing.

The La Sal Mountain Loop offers amazing opportunities to experience some of the most iconic film scenery Including the instantly recognisable scene from John Ford's Rio Grand. There's also amazing views across the mountains as you drive the loop. We parked up at a view point took out our picnic chairs and table had lunch and drank in the views.

This loop drive is interesting but suffers in comparison to other wonderful sights around Moab. Road is probably safe but is somewhat frightening.

We drove this loop because we were staying in the La Sal mountains, and figured we'd take the rest of the loop one morning. Good call. We hit it just past the peak of color in the mountains but it was still very pretty. And dropping down into castle valley was a great way to end the trip. It's so... More

We drove counterclockwise from south of Moab to castle valley where we were staying. The views were amazing with the trees just starting to turn to yellow. The road is narrow, steep at points, with sharp turns and lots of potholes. Cows were occasionally on the road but it's not as if we were going fast. We did encounter an... More

The loop road starts from castle valley and that really does form the best part of the trip. As you turn to drive over the mountain seperating Castle Valley from the Spanish Valley the road gets narrow and gives very little in the form of views until you begin descending towards the Spanish Valley. There is a military tracking station... More
