We stopped here look at the overlook view. The building was closed for the winter, which didn't surprise me. They have put up a mobile tour that you can hear the history of the building and area whilst walking around the grounds. Either way...building closed or open....the view is breathtaking!

We arrived and went into the house. Small museum inside. Oddly enough, the young park ranger at the desk kept asking me if I wanted to purchase anything from the gift shop. Strange, been to a lot of National Parks and that was the first time that has happened. Take your car and cross the road down to the locks.... More

I was happy to see them open this old plantation house up to the public. Most of the artifacts and things in the house is centered around the C&O canal, which was a great part of the area's history. There is however some of the history of the house included in the self guided exploration of the building. The views... More
