Very interesting site to learn about our 17th president. It's actually multiple sites (first home, tailor shop, homestead, and cemetery). Overall it provides a good understanding not only of Pres. Johnson's life, but also the events that were occurring at certain times of his life....More

When you visit this site, there are not very many parking places in the NPS lot. Park in the free municipal lot and you can walk to everywhere except Johnson's grave without moving the car again. We went through the replica birthplace first, then the...More

How fortunate we are to have the home of the 17th President here in Greeneville. Within the city limits, you can visit the National Park, his homestead and a National Cemetery and learn about his lifestyle, his politics, and his beliefs. History is waiting for...More

My son loves all things historic and presidential. This place fit the bill perfectly. Such a quaint little town and all of the buildings are within walking distance of each other. Lots to discover here!

Ran across this on a trip. It was a very informative quick stop where I learned so much I didn't know. There were exhibits at your own pace a movie and a ranger led tour.

The website mentions a Christmas closure, but I don't see a New Year's one mentioned. You might want to try calling them sometime this week or next so you don't drive over there just to be disappointed.
