It is a very nice statue in setting where you can comfortably sit and watch the world go by being thankful for its diversity. I gave it four out of five because the statue is on a reasonably high pedestal, and that just seems to be at odds with who I understood him to be, the Gandhi statue in our city put some on the same level as us. If you are looking for it, you need to know this on the water side of the terminal, but once I knew that it was not hard to find. Nothing I would build a day around, but glad I saw it.

We needed a place to sit waiting on the ferry. There were tables and chairs and great view of the bay.
There were also the Market Shops and coffee bars along the pier.
Good place to rest for the ferry.

I was surprised by the presence of this statue behind the ferry building. Certainly worth a photo stop.

This statue on the water side of the Ferry Building was a surprising find and just a lovely tribute to a man of peace. It is the only statue in the vicinity of the Ferry Building and really catches your eye as you are walking to/from the water. Stop and ponder this great man.

When I visited Gandhi he was surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the San Francisco farmers market, which whilst It seemed slightly incongruous with, I'm sure he very much enjoys being part of.
Take a look if you are in the area but don't go out of your way.

I like this sculpture near the Ferry Building in San Francisco. It's kind of in the middle of a parking/loading area, but it's a cool statue with views of the Bay Bridge. Worth a look.

Many people have criticised the location of this striking statue of Mahatma Ghandi which indeed is in the middle of an almost seedy backland area of the ferry building which serves as a parking lot and opposite the entrance to the ferries; it is immediately surrounded with a few chairs occupied intermittently by desultory passengers awaiting the ferry and/or eating their lunch. Further towards the edge of the pier area there are figures stretched out on benches sleeping off the previous night's excesses, or simply looking for temporary shelter away from inquisitive authoritarian eyes.
But Ghandi would not have wanted his image to be transported to some idyllic place where he could be admired among the well heeled of society: the answer to this lies in the city council's responsibility to clean up the area, integrate it within the rest of the vicinity to create an environment that is as attractive as the outward facing part of the Embarcadero and ferry building.

We were walking around the Ferry Building and past the various ferry terminals and noted this memorial statue in the middle of what used to be a car park, now a big stone plaza next to the Golden Gate Ferry terminal. Important to memorialize one of the greatest figures of the 20th Century.

I like the wonderful sculpture of Mohandas , Gandhi Sculpture which is by the Ferry Building in San Francisco. It is a bronze sculpure doone in 1988. It was sculpted by Ziatko Pounov and Seven Lowe.

This statue sits almost unnoticed in the middle of the plaza behind the Port of San Francisco Ferry Terminal.
It is a tribute to a man of peace who stated that “Non-Violence is the greatest force at the disposal of Mankind. It is the supreme law. By it alone can mankind be saved.”
