Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

If you are lucky enough for a warm SF day, then this is the beach to head to. It is usually quite sunny and warmer than any other beach in the city. The views of the Golden Gate bridge add to the relaxing calm of the ocean waves. The section closest to the rocks is clothing optional so be prepared.

A nice beach in its own right, it has excellent views of the west side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Easily accessible by Muni 38 (Geary) to 25th Avenue, north on Muni 29, route bottoms out at the beach entry.

As you know, Baker Beach is near the Golden Gate Bridge, which is the most famous visiting place in SF. That day, after going to the Golden Gate Park, I went there with my friends. There was a 1.5 mile path from the road to the beach. The scenery was excellent. On the road, there was an old military installation.... More

We rented bikes for a day and drove from downtown all the way up through golden gate Park to Ocean Beach and then to Baker Beach, which is the better beach in my opinion since you have the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. You can even see people surfing. It is very beautiful and I would have loved to... More

Took an Uber Pool here from Chinatown for about $7 USD early in the morning to catch the sunrise. It's okay, sunset here is much better ... but there wasn't anyone on the beach so it made taking selfies quite easy. It is a nudist beach during the day. Anyways the waves here are super strong, and ice cold in... More

I met a girl while traveling who told me this beach is the best part of SF and boy was she right. The beach is awesome, really quiet, not too many tourists, and you have an amazing view not only of the sea and the bay area but also the bridge. You can walk all the way up to some... More

We love this beach. It's a lovely walkable size and it doesn't get crowded. Even on foggy days it's still a lovely place to be. Just bring your comfy blanket, a picnic, any dogs and significant others....LOL.

Beautiful beach near the golden gate bridge. Went went in November 2016 on a 70 degree day. Lots of people of all ages on the beach. Lots of people taking pictures for engagements and such. If you want to loose the bathing suit, go all the way down the beach closest to the bridge and its a unofficial nude beach.... More

This beach is beautiful! If I was a local, I would come here with my dog every day. We stumbled on this beach while doing the California Coastal Trail, and we stopped to enjoy the views. The sand was soft, the surf was up, and the views of the gorgeous houses and Golden Gate Bridge were excellent.
