This is a rather ugly and neglected park.
We were quite shocked by the condition of the park and numerous homeless people in it.

Beautiful Urban Park on Pacific heights. Across the street from spreckels Mansion, and the best view of the mansion. Great place to bring the kids to play. Found a curbside parking spot on a Sunday afternoon.

We love this park. Great playground for kids and excellent views of the city. It's clean, people are nice, and impressively the bathrooms are super clean.

Pacific Heights in San Francisco boasts of two parks, Lafayette and Alta Plaza, which are walking distance to each other. Lafayette is a beautifully designed and landscaped park. It is visually very pleasing. The trees, plants, grounds, pathways and benches are integrated as a whole. The north side has a wonderful view of the bay, and Washington Street is lined with the most beautiful and graceful residential apartment buildings in the city. You will also find mansions of different architectural styles like the famed Beaux-Art white mansion of Danielle Steel. There are tennis courts and children's playground. But the whole place comes alive the best on a warm and sunny week-end. Families, friends, neighbors and visitors enjoy the sun and each other's company. Pacific Heights is a Tier-One neighborhood and it has a Tier-One park, Lafayette.

It's quite a large space, positioned on a hill. With lovely walking areas and lots of greenery, plants and trees, it is much used and treasured.

Given its elevation we had fine vistas of the surrounds. We walked around and enjoyed scenes of the cityscape.

You will not believe the free entertainment that is available to you!! Lafayette Park had this wonderful concert with 2 jazz bands!! They were awesome. Food was available at a very reasonable price. There was also a black tent (I sought it out) with lovely cocktails. As an aside, today I went for blood work and the phlebotomist asked me if I’d been on vacation yet. I told him that I’d been in New Orleans and he asked if I’d recommend going there. *****. He has decided to go and will not regret it!! Neither will you

It was a nice day when we were here and everyone was out laying on blankets and enjoying the sun, it had a very neighborly feel to it. There are several walking paths going thru the park. I did not notice a playground but was not really looking for that as we had no kids with us.

I live across the street from this park...it's like my backyard! Beautifully maintained and recently renovated this park is a lovely oasis in the heart of upscale Pacific Heights...a great place to unwind if you've been on a walking tour of the impressive homes and mansions that line the surrounding streets.
I'll see 'ya there!

I have seen a few parks in San Francisco in the last few days. I was ready to 'write this one off' but actually changed my mind after walking through. Manicured to almost be shrink wrapped!
