The area
Neighbourhood: Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.

As the name indicates, it is a shoreline green park in the north of San Francisco and at the west of Fort Mason and the east of the glamourous Golden Gate. It is known by the picturesque marina (daytime is preferred), the ocean, the boats, the background of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the close Fine Arts Palace (free entry).

We enjoyed seeing the views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge from Marina Park. It was a nice day. People were out enjoying the green space - some with their dogs. Parking is free.

This is just a big open green space next to the sea.
There's nothing practically interesting nor exciting to do here.

This huge open space is full of dog walkers, joggers, and frisbie throwers, all enjoying the views of the Bay and the Bridge. Beware it can be cold and foggy anytime of year.

Just went again, as we've been taking our dog here for walks and always love this area and enjoy coming over the Golden Gate Bridge to do so.

It's always beautiful on a sunny or any day to walk among people up & down the sidewalk, and sit on the lawn and enjoy the views. Great to view the home there along the sidewalk and in the Marina districts there.

Trivia... this is where Joe DiMaggio walked with his friends as he was a native San Franciscan.

We make it a point to drive along here at Christmas time to see all of the sailboats with holiday their holiday lights.

This huge open space is amazingly popular. Lots of people out and about all day long, walking dogs, throwing frisbees, flying kites, and just walking. Great views of the GG Bridge and the lovely Marina District homes. A huge area.
