Neighbourhood: Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the country.

We went to see Hairspray! What a fabulous performance and what a great theater. We had front row of balcony, super great value seats, not a ton of leg room but who cares with a great view. Loved the atmosphere felt intimate and local, different from a bland broadway venue. From picking up the tickets, ordering drinks, to the Artistic director and cast everyone was fabulous. The show itself rates as the best show I have seen and I have seen a lot! The singing was first class and the chemistry of the cast was really authentic. Shame we don’t live in SF or we would be back.

This theatre is intimate for its size! In a terrible neighborhood but the theatre itself is in relatively good condition for its age. Saw the Golden Girls Live Christmas show for the 5th year in a row, always hilarious. Make sure you RUN out at intermission if you have to use the bathroom, the line for the women's room will stretch into the house all the way down to the front of the stage.

Brilliant performance from the all female cast. Good value too. Small intimate venue with a mobile bar. The only downside were the limited toilets.

Went to see 'Silence! The Musical' last night in San Francisco and was impressed by this witty, lively, compact show that held my interest throughout the performance. Very entertaining & a must see!

The novelty of the old historic theater quickly wears off after about 20 minutes in one of the horribly uncomfortable seats. But the rudest Awakening is if you have to use the restroom. This theater holds several hundred people, but the rest rooms are smaller than something that you would find in a one bedroom house, and I'm not exaggerating. The men's room consists of two toilets with curtains around them . And God save you if there's a fire or an earthquake while you're inside.

This theater is 50 years overdue for a complete renovation.

We saw an awesome production of Little Shop of Horrors in this old restored theater last Saturday. Yes, this theater is in the Mission District and you might see some unsavory people hanging around but the venue seemed safe to me, my adult daughter, and my 9 year old grandson. We noted a couple of cops nearby on foot. About 400 seats in good condition, reasonably comfortable and clean, small balcony, small stage, adequate lighting and sound was not distorted. We didn't buy food but it smelled good. Reasonably priced tickets bought online. High ceiling, ornate light fixture, and cool decorative grates. Temperature was well controlled on an unusually hot San Francisco afternoon. Restroom was a really tiny 2 seater with a pretty long line to wait in. Ticket taker was helpful and friendly. Take BART, only crowded street parking was available. A quick 2 block walk from the 16th Street BART station makes access easy and lots of interesting little restaurants to choose from.

We saw "La Cage au Folles" starring one of our friends. The show was first class and the theater was really cool.

Love the play "Little shop of horrors" in this historic theater but the neighborhood is filled with homeless people and drug addicts which makes it feel very unsafe.

This very old theater provides good stage and seating facilities for smaller productions. It probably seats about 400 people. There are It is very near a the 16th BART station. It needs greatly expanded lavatory facilities, but there is probably no place to put them.

This theatre is a throw-back in time. Small, nothing fancy but gives you an idea of San Francisco theater construction after the great earthquake. The production we saw was fabulous for community musical theatre. Great views from all seats.
