I really enjoyed being in the oldest building in San Francisco, and learning about the missionary history of the area. The church has a very solemn, new world feel that you don't get in many other religious buildings.

Beautiful church with excellent service! Roma Catholic is always charming! Attend their services! The holly communion is good. Sermon is short. Choir and organ is spectacular! The choir lead is doing a good job.

We visited on a beautiful April day. The whole experience was very lovely and peaceful. Really enjoyed the cemetery and the staff in the gift shop were very knowledgeable. I recommend, for history buffs if you are not religious.

We walked the Mission District to finally reach the Mission itself and took the self guided tour that starts from the chapel, then onto the basilica with its beautiful stained glass windows and altar, and then along a covered walkway with murals, photos and drawings to the old cemetery. The museum has artifacts interesting lithographs. There is small gift shop... More

Self Guided Tour so you can take as long as you wish within this old building. Some nice slightly different stained glass windows - ask about the orange colour! Interesting interior. Check out the history of not only this building but the basilica next door especially the damage caused by the big earthquake. The graveyard is interesting with converted Indian... More

My wife and I decided to spend the day exploring the Mission District - from murals to the mission. Built in 1776, the mission is the oldest remaining structure in San Francisco. Although not the most beautiful mission in the system, the facility has been very well maintained and is a joy to tour. We also enjoyed the beautiful historic... More

Went on a cold, rainy day and was overwhelmed with history, beauty and amazement! Self guided tour for a small donation to go through mission and basilica as well as gardens cemetery. Was the terminus of the El Camino Real and California Missions. The drive through Mission District adds to the beauty.

Well, I have experienced visiting galore of Churches in Europe, including ones of the most beautiful, but there, there is no comparison. Here, you enter only a narrow shop and the first thing you are been told is ... "make a donation of $5" (What I had already prepared before coming). But when I have been told that we cannot... More

Mission Dolores is the oldest building in San Francisco and has an amazing history. Surviving earthquakes & appearing in Hitchcock's Vertigo. The woman who we spoke to at the shop was lovely, gave great recommendations of local food, mural alleys and streetscapes! Highly recommended.

From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners.
