I wouldnt be willing to venture out on Haight Street at night, it isnt exactly the nicest part of San Francisco. There are lots of head shops, police, and I even saw a drug deal on Thanksgiving. I think Haight Street is only worth exploring...More

I love walking along here. There’s a great assortment of shops, restaurants and bars, and there’s definitely something for everyone. If you only have a few days in San Francisco, I’d definitely recommend spending a morning or afternoon here. While there’s quite a few homeless...More

We visited and went for a quick stroll down the street and departed. We didn't feel at all comfortable there...not so much for the culture or the lifestyle, but due to the numerous homeless wandering around, pan handlers and dealers loitering around on the street....More

Lots of unusual hippy style shops to look in, selling typical hippy clothes, incense and in some cases, lovely gifts. Haight Street is also Home to the wonderful Veganburg which has the best burgers ever. They look like they’ve been photoshopped, but they’re full of...More

Between Divisadero and Fillmore Streets. This is no longer a step back in time. They have quite a lot of new buildings which are made 'in style' and decorated to fit in - but it doesn't really fool anyone - does it? Still a nice...More

Modern history here, plus some great Victorian architecture just off Haight. Cafes and places to eat, and it leads to Golden Gate Park. But you will run into a lot of panhandlers.

Worth a visit just to get a feel of the whole hippie vibe and the great creativity of so many of the stores. It was fun walking up this street and feeling the love :-)

I loved the Haight area. It's filled with Summer of Love style second hand shops, interesting restaurants and tattoo parlors. The street corners and parks have all sorts of people living off the grid. Many have their pets with them and may be playing a...More

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
