We tried to stay in the hotel at Fishermen Wharf area and found very costly. Thus we selected Colubus Motor Inn in Columbus avenue which was only 2 blocks away from the pier area. This area was nice, quite. Lombard street and Chinatown were walking...More

In San Francisco it was too crowded at Fisherman's Wharf so we walked a few blocks up to Columbus Ave for lunch at this small Indian restaurant recommmended by a local. We had Vegetable Biryani ($9.99) and Saan Chana ($9.99, chickpeas over rice). Both were...More

Very nice street to have a walk. Lots of bars and restaurants. When you want to find some some night bars and clubs, it is great for night life :)

This was part of our walk away from the waterfront. Congested and had a lot of traffic, but still good walking on the sidewalks. Great views of the Sentinel building and TransAmerica building.

Lots of traffic on this through street make this not such a pleasant walk nor a good place to sit outside at a cafe. A bunch of old fashioned Italian restaurants and some clubs. Chinatown is spilling over into this area.

Columbus Avenue is about 1 mile in length and runs from Beach Street towards the financial district and ends at the foot of the Trans America Pyramid. There is a mix of restaurants, stores and eclectic shops. About half way through your stroll you walk...More

Columbus avenue is a street that slices diagonally through the grid of the city. The bulk of it is in the heart of little Italy, and little Italy has lots of heart. Find a trattoria with seating on the side walk and watch the city...More

Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential
neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner.
Combined with several great cafes, restaurants,
antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any
visitor would gladly leave their heart in San
Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down
Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world,
and make the slow creep downhill past charming period
